Shiftry Solo Raid

Yeah, it's me. The crazy Tier 4 Solo raider. According to Silph Road and other related sites, Shiftry can be soloed, because it has a double weakness and it's defense it's so miserable. I assume it's by using 6 Maxed out Bug-types. My question is: It's rainy weather needed for this solo? Has anyone tried it yet?

I haven't tried but based on Pokebattler it Should be possible with Pinsir and Scizor at level 35 in neutral weather. In rainy it should be easy with level 30 bugs. If you don't have 6 bugs, in cloudy Machamp can keep you on time and Moltres in sunny weather, maxed obviously.

My personal team comes to a 1.16 power rating on pokebattler with only 2 bugs (a pinsir and a scizor, both around 30-35), my lv37 sky attack moltres, and three maxed Machamp in extreme weather. I would say that you could probably solo without a weather boost given enough high leveled pinsir/scizor.

I currently have a maxed out level 40 91% Scizor and a 96% Pinsir. However, I have 2 Scizor (98% and 96%) and 2 more Pinsir (100% and a 96% Lucky) that I could level up to take down Shiftry. I have a lot of fire and fighting types, so I think I'm going to give it a try tomorrow to see how much damage I can do with a improvised team.

Ive heard its possible with maxed level pinsir, no weather boost

In weather boost, Pinsir, both Scizor and scyther are viable at level 30 from what ive heard, and even scizor and Pinsir at level 25 with either lucky with movesets of shiftry or dodging

How many Pinsir or Scizor? I'll train as many as I need. I have enough resources. (I have one of each level 40 max attack so far)

For no weather, ive heard ONLY level 40 pinsir are viable. I dont know the exact number, but I would assume 6
dont know the numbers needed for weather boost

I don’t know who you keep “hearing” these things from , but you definitely need to stop listening to them

I've been working on it pretty obsessively for the last couple of days. This is my #1 quest at the moment, and the primary focus of my play, for now. With weather boost, it will be easy, but I'm focused on doing it in neutral weather.

Pokebattler says it will take 1.01 trainers with teams identical to mine. In other words, with luck and/or the right boss moveset, I am already there. However, I am constantly evaluating the best investments to efficiently improve my team, which consists of two Scizors and four Pinsirs. The Scizors have FC/XS, obviously, and three of the the Pinsirs have BB/XS, while the fourth has the legacy FC/XS set. The limiting factor for me is stardust; I spent a bunch on Groudon and Kyogre counters before discovering Shiftry as a potential solo. Since then, I've spent probably 75K to optimize my bug team for the Shiftry solo, and I'm down to about 50K stardust.

If I see a Shiftry raid, I'll try it with the team I have, but I am continually improving the team. I have a third Scizor, which could replace one of the Pinsirs if I invest about 95K stardust in it (which I currently don't have). The advantage there is that Scizor has slightly better survivability than Pinsir. Having to re-enter the battle will mean failure for this raid, and Pinsir alone doesn't have the bulk to do it.

The only viable attackers are Scizor, Pinsir, and potentially Scyther (with either FC/BB [legacy] or FC/XS). Scyther has a time to win of around 183-184 seconds at level 40, so it could potentially fill in as the sixth attacker. Nothing else is even close to being viable.

I'll post a report when I have successfully soloed Shiftry, which I expect to be in the next few days. What I really need right now is a lot of "catch 10 Taillows or Zigzagoons for 1,000 stardust."

I've seen two videos of it being done, one with all bugs and another with mostly weather-boosted Machamps, though they lead with a Pinsir and a Scizor in the first two slots respectively. Apparently non Leaf Blade sets are harder and require dodging to win.

We'll see. I think any dodging would have to be very minimal (perhaps dodging at most 2-3 hurricanes or foul plays) in order not to sacrifice too much DPS.

I'm watching the mostly Machamp video again. The lead Pinsir dodged 2 Hurricane. Slot 2 Scizor dodged one Hurricane successfully, botched a 2nd dodge, and dodged a fast move I assume due to Hurricane anticipation. One of the Machamps also had a botched dodge. They still won despite iffy dodge consistency but it came down to the last second or two. It looks like there's some amount of dodge forgiveness, but not much.

I was able to solo Shiftry last night. Boss had hurricane and it was cloudy. I used a maxed out Pinsir, a maxed out Scizor and filled in with maxed Machamps. I fainted out the first time so dodging is crucial. The second try I dodged nearly all the Hurricanes (I missed one) with Pinsir and Scizor. I dodged a couple Hurricanes with the Machamps (only when convenient). I won with 7 seconds left and I had one unused Machamp. It was a fun fight! I suspect FP or LB would be easier and require less or no dodging.
