Next Research Breakthrough

Now that it's Thursday morning on the Pacific Rim, any info on what the new Research Breakthrough is? Early report of another Moltres was likely due to a glitch that gave the poster two stamps in a day, letting him finish a second one in the first week. Inquiring minds want to know, ....

Yup, it was Moltres again. I'm hoping someone at Niantic hit the wrong button, and that's why we got fire chicken two weeks in a row. Hoping next week is something different.

I'm not sure why everybody, on this site at least, thinks these should rotate weekly. When is the last time Niantic has done that?

Most likely, IMO, the reward will change when the raid bosses rotate. Niantic has all the raids aligned at the moment.

Next most likely scenario is that it rotates with the nests. But I think that is too short a time. Niantic will certainly favor new and casual players with these rewards as theyvare already designed to help out people who didnt play when or couldnt do the raids when these Legendaries were originally available.

"When is the last time Niantic has done that?"
Since the research element of the game is a brand new feature that functions differently than what we're used to, I don't think it makes sense to compare it to other elements of the game. Besides, with nests changing every 2 weeks, tier 5 raids (typically) changing monthly, and other raids changing when tier 5 raids do/for events/when Niantic feels like it, it's not like there's any kind of common theme that's being followed.

More importantly, why wouldn't they rotate the 7 stamp reward weekly? Even casual players will lose interest in a repetitive reward (and since it has a 0% flee rate, even the person with the worst luck at throwing is guaranteed to catch it eventually).

It was not a glitch, some players in the correct timezone had the event go live at 11pm and were able to acquire 2 stamps right off the bat. Getting the last stamp faster is an exploit though, as you can change your timezone into an earlier one to get access to the box as soon as possible.

I want another moltres, but if I didn’t, I would wait until after the time of day when Niantic usually makes changes (nest migrations, event end dates, etc) just in case they flip it.
