Does the method of catching Pokemon affect its value?
When you scroll down your Pokemon, it will show the location and kind of ball you caught it with. If you caught a Pokemon with a normal Pokeball, is it going to worth less than if you caught it with an ultra ball?

Not directly. However, I got this Aerodactyl shiny thru a research task today...not extremely valuable since it is level 15 and IVs on the lower end of its kind. I use regular balls and pinaps catching research tasks, seems like the best ones for it. I'd rather catch a shiny wild and I'd use an ultra ball regardless of whatever catch rate a wild shiny brings to the encounter.
I miss catching many of the shiny releases, so switch anorith for Omanyte. However, my beef with a level 15 shiny from research or a level 20 with an egg is being able to trade 1:1 (Aerodactyl for Aerodactyl). I can trade a shiny magikarp for another shiny magikarp bc both those are likely to be bad to begin with. A shiny Aerodactyl from research will never be bad enough for someone to gamble so recklessly on.
Species, level, IVs, and moveset are all set before you start trying to catch a pokemon. Berries, type of ball, curve throw, and accuracy only affect your chance of catching it.
I suppose some people might collect pokemon that are caught with certain pokeballs, but that would just be a subjective value.
Balls are just cosmetic once they've caught it. But I do like to match balls to the pokemon's color (usually of its last evolution). I wish I could have caught for example the 100% wailmer with a Great Ball because it's blue, but I had no idea it was going to be a 100%, so now it's stuck in a red ball.
