Does ATK iv matters if i want to max a pkmn?
Does ATK iv matters if i want to max a pkmn?
From my understanding regarding breakpoints, trainers would power up 15ATK iv to certain lv
But what if i want to max that pokemon?should i go for 15ATK iv or higher total iv?
Im planning on maxing a groudon so i can see my 1st 4000cp pokemon
So which do i max?
1. 95% iv groudon with A/D/S 14 14 15
Will be 4052CP at max or
2. 93% iv groudon with A/D/S 15 15 12
Will be 4043CP at max

You can use an app like PokeGenie or check the GamePress CP Calculator https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/cpcalc#/ for HP value when powered up.
At level 40, Groudon with 15 stm IV has 155 HP. Meanwhile 12 stm IV has 153 HP.
Some possible theoretical attack breakpoint vs 2 HP.
Breakpoints are dependent on the defender, so it is hard to really generalize it too much. There are a few pokemon with 15 atk IV that hit breakpoints at level 40 against specific raid bosses. Those same pokemon with only 14 atk IV would be unable to hit that breakpoint. Of note though is that Groudon's Mud Shot with 15 atk IV hits its last breakpoint at level 31 against Kyogre raid boss and at level 32 against Raikou raid boss (if it ever makes a return). Both are only one more power up for the 14 atk IV breakpoint.
You are not going to go too wrong either way.
