Does anyone else still use rare candies on Tyranitar?

Because this doesn't seem to be the case for most people in currently. I still use rare candies to power up Tyranitars.

OMG no. I'm up to 900 plus candies from t'tar raids since I can't manage to catch a decent one. They are very easy to pinap so can easily get 80 candies in 5 or so raids.

I figure I might be able to use them in trade if that ever gets implemented so hopefully not entirely useless.

I've used them before, tbh it's arguably the next best thing after Mewtwo and Raikou. If you've already dumped candy into those two, then and only then should you dump on Ttar.

I've used 30-40 rare candies on Raikou and Zapdos each. I'm keeping 66 rare candies for Mewtwo. Whenever I get more I use them on Raikou, Zapdos or Tyranitar.

Sorry to be blunt but I think it is a mistake.

Non-legendaries candies are easy to obtain:
- 1 every 5 km walked
- 1 every 100 berries fed
- 8 for a pinaped wild catch or raid or followed by a double event transfer.
- many candies for hatches

20 per week is not too difficult to get. That means you can power up from level 20 to 32.5 one raided Tyranitar per month or one Tyranitar from level 20 to 38 every two months. That is more than enough!
You do not need rare candies on top!

On the other hand, you really want to power up 2 Mewtwo, a Moltres, a Raikou to their maximum. And the candies are much more expensive.
- 1 candy per 20 km
- cannot feed them berries
- no wild catch
- no eggs to incubate

I'm not thinking of maxing out any legendaries. There's a reason why I only keep 66 candies for Mewtwo.

IMO, Mewtwo is a bad generalist, due to its only 2-bar move Shadow Ball being double resisted by some of the best defenders.

Yes, because I got no good Raikous nor an EX pass.

I don't anymore, but I did in the past. The reason is that I already have enough T-Tar and rare candy are too precious and hard to get to me. So, I'm saving them for mewtwo, Raikou and other legendaries down the line. Also, I permanently walk a larvitar. I got many candy from the special 2k eggs. In general I tend to save rare candy for legendaries. But T-Tar is a safe bet, as we know it will be meta relevant for ever

Of the useful non-legends it's probably the second one I would consider after maybe Dragonite (since there is no raid boss for the dragon). But I'm also getting to the point where I'll have a very powerful 6 Machamp team, so I may start doing a lot more Ttar raids, mostly negating any need for additional candy.

I do.

Most people posting here won't because they're Hardcore players who can get into 5+ Tyranitar raids per week AND they're easily able to catch Tyranitars with Pinap's. Judging by them is like trying to judge how much you should be able to bench press by asking fitness freaks - unless you're that kind of hardcore player, you aren't going to be catching 5 Tyranitars a week with a few being Pinap'ed.

If you're a player like me - 4-6 raids per week, almost all of then Legendary raids because they have the best results and the most people coming to them - use those Rare Candies for Tyranitars. I have seen exactly 1 Larvitar/Pupitar/Tyranitar in the Wild, and that might have been an individualized spawn for my wife as it appeared on her screen in the first night of the Rock/Ground event, but not for me or my daughter. Since then I haven't seen a single one in the Wild, so the idea I can catch them in the Wild is laughable. I've been in about 10 Tyranitar raids and only caught 3 of them because I'm not a Master at catching Pokémon. (Which isn't a sarcastic comment - the people who claim to be able to Pinap Tyranitars are the kind of people who can reliably get a Curveball into a Great or even Excellent throw on command, and that is exceptionally difficult.)

So use those Rare Candies for Tyranitars if you need to. You can get a reliable 8-10 Rare Candies a week if you do 5 Level 4+ raids per week, which is far more reliable than anything but Walking. You walk 5km a day, that's 7 candies a week. You get 8 Rare Candies, that's 15 Larvitar candies per week. If you manage to catch a Tyranitar, you save 123 candies (no need to evolve a Larvitar) and get a bonus 10 candies. But with a small bit of dedication you can reliably have 15 Larvitar candies per week if you use Rare Candies.

"You walk 5km a day, that's 7 candies a week."

That means 66 candies every two months (enough for powering up from level 20 to 30), just by walking!

How many Tyranitars do you need?

Yes, i still dump excess rare candies in TTars as larvitars are extremely rare and I maybe can do 1 or 2 ttar raids per week. My Mewtwo is already maxed out and I already dumped a bunch of rare candies into other legendaries that I ultimately never even powered up save my perfect IV Moltres.
