Catcher or fighter?

Its been some time since similar topics.

Catcher area:
Collector: 14,219
Scientist: 2428
Backpacker: 12,012

Fighter area:
Breeder: 1275
Battle girl: 3,277
Ace Trainer: 1346

lvl 35 and 3/4

I perceive myself as a fighter: I breed eggs for attackers and defenders, I prefer to take down a lvl 10 gym as opposed to visit a nest.

Based on my stats I can see that too: battled around 1/3 of number of catch mons, like at every 3 caught mons I do a fight)
Proposed formula:
FC (Fighter coefficient) = Collector/(battle+ trainer) = 14,219/(3,277+1346)=14,219/4,623 = 3.07

I guess I'm more of a collector.

I don't know where the threshold should be. Maybe we are what we feel we are :D.

Well, I usually hold 7 or 8 fairly stable gyms at a time, and I fight 1 or 2 a day. Although I'd LIKE to claim 10 a day, I don't always have the time or revives/potions to take down any gyms just for fun, or sometimes even when I need them.

I think the secret lies in what you toss when your bag gets full. I toss potions. Thus, I'm more of a catcher at heart.
Although I'm able to collect on 10 gyms a day, so does that make me a fighter?
Maybe I'm just a spinner, I'll toss stuff if my bag is full just to get the next spin.
or maybe I'm just crazy. oh that is it.... found the answer.

I like the tossing idea :); I toss nabab or ball, never potions. the 2 small ones get used as they came, I always have wounded mons.

I am a bit more the collector, but I battle in gyms if I occupy less than 10 gyms currently (which is often the case, unfortunately).

I see you have more spins than catches. Do you find yourself throwing items often?

Yes, I usually throw away Potions and Nanab berries. If it is necessary, I do the same with Pokeballs, although with a bad feeling. I usually try to use them on random Pokemon I encounter. I also consider to throw away my Upgrades, since I already evolved 3 Porygon.

I posted about this a number of weeks ago.
I noticed that, from level 27 to about level 31 I was spinning more stops than the number of mons I was catching. This was before I increased my storage, and I was trying to maintain a 'balanced' storage bag based on what I needed. Once I hit level 31, and at the same time, I increased my storage, I have been catching far more than the # of stops I'm spinning.
But, I still throw away all Nanab, half the Pinap, quite a few Rasp, all low level potions, and sometimes regular balls in order to keep my bag balanced the way I like it. I haven't collected a lot of evolution items yet, but I'm sure that I'll be tossing them, too.

Level 28 here:
3931/(428+582)=3.892

4024 pokéstops spinned
375 Pokémon evolved
126 Pokémon hatched

keep going; and spend more time playing than over analysing, might help you more :).

Scientist: 3,263
Backpacker: 18,521
Breeder: 1,728
Battle Girl: 2,967
Ace Trainer: 2,168

I feel like I am more of a battler, but there are many limiting factors...time, location, potions. Also, the types of battles vary...am I spending time taking gyms down, or rebuilding gyms? When it comes to catching pokemon, I can do that almost any where at any time.

I guess you are deep into 36, your numbers are way bigger than mine and I'm 2 weeks from 36 :).

I'm about half way through. But most of that is actually from the event. I think play style factors in quite a bit. I quit for 2 months, not that that affects the numbers a ton, but I didn't use any lucky eggs during level 33 or 34.

I don't necessarily agree with your categorizations. I evolve pokemon to acquire battlers, and I spin pokestops mostly to reload on potions and revives. A lot of times when I do a mass pokestop-spinning spree, I am constantly getting rid of pokeballs (and nanabs) to make room for potions.

Hatching for me is more for the purpose of collecting.

Fighter area:

FC = 19,684/(4,192 + 3,565) = 2.54

I'm a free player (level 36-5/8), and I perceive myself as an all-arounder. I do like battling, but I like collecting and farming nests just as much. Also, I have a strong preference for wild-caught pokemon, and aspire to catch 'em all in the wild (still have 19 gen 1 mons that I haven't caught wild, all of which are evolutions except Tangela).

I agree with you. IMO it all goes together. I catch/hatch pokemon for stardust to power up pokemon to use in gyms. If you are building teams (offense and defense) for gyms, you are a battler, if not, you are just a casual collector. My wife would be the latter, she is level 24, never battled a gym.

Both of you are right, I'm just trying to put an interesting spin over just pasting our stats :).

I really like battling but gym lag and dodge glitch have become really unbearable lately.
Should I invest in a high-end mobile (which I probably won't do...) or it won't change anything ?

For me moving from iphone 5 to iphone 7 meant I no longer feared confusion/psychic slowbro or exe :). This was around Christmas.

I'm definitely a collector. But, I would put some of my stats under different headings. My Scientist number is mainly about gaining XP (which is more to do with fighting than collecting) while my Breeder number is probably more about getting the occasional rare Pokemon (like Aerodactyl) for collecting.

Even more than this, my battling is primarily done as a means of collecting. Gym coins have allowed me to expand storage, buy incubators, and prepare for future items/events when things like legendaries can finally be collected as well.

FC = 9.15

I also evolve for xp, and want xp for being able to power up both attackers and defenders. I guess my separations is between catching a lot to level up for the sake of it, to reach 40, or level up gradually, just to improve your battling experience.

Got a bit fed up and didnt battle at all for the first quarter of 2017 after prestige went from 500 back to 1000 max. Been going back into it lately since training gyms is so much harder now. Obviously love taking down spoofer gyms.
