Absol vs Tyranitar

Absol does more DPS but has way less bulk, in a meta where DPS is king. So why does the gen 3 analysis page still say that "Absol can't compete with Tyranitar"?

where does it state that absol does more dps? believe trex has a higher attack stat and i dont see the diff in moves for either to have much of a leg up on the other.

Even absol's attack was higher you can tank hits , gain more eps and use a charge move with tyranitar.
So simply it cant...

Absol has only 5 less attack stat than Ttar, but a better moveset.

Absol's moveset is better, Crunch is honestly a pretty bad charge move. Houndoom already almost competes with Tyranitar in weave DPS with 27 points less attack because S/FP is so much better than B/C.

Dark Pulse isn't much better if at all, 80 damage 3s as opposed to 70 damage 3.2s, and, to make matters worse, it's only got 2 bars instead of 3.

Snarl, however, gives Bite a run for its money.

Even with a slight DPS edge in a 1-on-1 comparison, bulk as low as Absol's isn't ideal. If you have to choose between 6 Absol, rejoin with more Absols, and 6 Tyranitar, no rejoin, the Tyranitar team will undoubtedly deal more damage because the time it takes to rejoin as well as going through more death animations takes away Absol's small DPS advantage. Tyranitar isn't the top DPS against Mewtwo either, yet it's the top counter.

DPS is king but how long you can keep up the DPS matters.

Tyranitar is one of the best currently available mons as far as its dps/tankiness ratio goes. It'd be nice if it had a stronger charge move, but that might make it too OP.

Just like Ho-Oh with Fire Blast instead of Overheat, or Mewtwo with Psychic instead of Future Sight. Keeping the high CP in check with moderate movesets.
