The >3000 CP decay feature

Hi everyone,

Just to confirm my understanding on this topic:

It used to be the case that >3k CP defenders have a higher decay than those <3k. However, it is to my understanding that those <3k has been fixed to decay at the same rate as the >3k in a prior update. Is this true? Or do they still feature different rates?

Just asking to decide if I should bring my Blissey to the 3000 Club. Thanks.

My 29XX blisseys decay pretty quickly. By the time I'll get 20, or so, coins for them, they are pretty easy pickings. If I powered them up a bit more, I think it wouldn't make much difference.

I've heard that mon under 2K cp have a slower decay rate, but I haven't paid that much attention to the progress of lower cp mon that I put in gyms. I'm just counting on someone else's blissey to protect them long enough I'll get a few coins.

There used to be to different exponential decay formulas for CP, one for original CP 3k and over and one for the rest. Now there is only one formula for decay based on the original CP.

It would not surprise me if the breakpoint for retained CP after an hour is well below 3k. I bet a 2.7k CP 'mon has less CP than a 2.65k CP ’mon after an hour in a gym.

It doesn't really "matter" what your CP is unless you're below ~1700. This makes Chansey arguably the best defender for the late night method.

I'm actually beginning work on a "night raid" tier list rn for funsies. For example, at what point is something better than 1500-1700 Blissey? And other similar considerations.

I'm wondering if, according to this formula, Wobbuffet can be an interesting defender in term of time consumption?
Because it has max 1000Cp, it will lose motivation very slowly and will require to beat it 2 or 3 times even after a few hours.
Has anyone experienced that (I never fight again Wobbuffet) ?

I didn't know the number was under 2k. Good to know. Most of my defenders are far less than that. If you place very weak mons rival teams get even less gym exp and therefore takes longer to get the gold badge. Dick move & IDGAF

30 vs 13 out of 30,000 is nothing. I think to a point a low CP gym is more attractive to a lot of people because it appears quicker.

I do wish they'd install a function so you could tap through the gym animations so after I one hit a pidgey, it doesn't take 10-20 seconds to load the next battle opponent.

Can we all agree that the decay system is a load of garbage and should never have been made this way?

It was a way to make sure a level 20 player could earn the same rewards as a level 38 player. Otherwise the game would have been dead and gone by now. Personally I would have preferred that there were 3 "tiers" at each gym. Under 25, 26-32, and 33+ maybe. We each only fight at our tier and don't even see the others.
