Walking an Eevee during event to evolve

As we all know by now, walking fever as your buddy for 10km/2candies allowed you to evolve it in to espeon or umbreon. What about now that distances are reduced for buddies? Is it still 10km walked (8 candies?) or is it still just 2 candies (2.5 km walked)?

Reportedly you still have to walk an uninterrupted 10km. Wait till after the event to walk for Espeon/Umbreon.
