Viewing Gym Battles

How would you feel if gym battles were (optionally?) visible to anyone who clicked on the gym within distance in the game. Obviously it wouldn't have a huge impact but it could be fun and a chance to show off one's attack roster :D From a code point of view I think it would be easy enough to implement. What do you think?

The battle lag can barely keep up with you as you are battling alone. Given how when you are attacking a gym in a group, the other players frequently are just standing doing nothing, there are probably some pretty big performance issues preventing this idea.

I imagine that is mostly network lag which occurs because networking Input/Output is synchronized from all players involved in the battle. If viewing only, however, it would only need give output to viewers and not have to block/wait on multiple people at once which is much easier, and would be much less laggy. Unless you are talking about video performance which I don't think would be any more of an issue than regular battling.
