Transferring Holiday Pikachu
I have over 70 copies of that pokemon (all mediocre in CP and IVs) and I already have trouble purging my box due to the 1k storage limit. I want space for more competent Mons and I was thinking about releasing a couple dozen of Santachus but I was wondering if it would be a good idea in your opinion. Just how rare do you think they will become in the future and if it was really worth the trouble to keep them around at all. I think most trainers have at least a dozen by this point and considering not many new players might join in the following years, do you guys consider it worth it to keep that many and how many should I get rid off?

My hard limit is keeping 10. Even that will be revisited at some point. I have 8 wonders and the one average my daughter caught as our first. Even that little twit is close to the chopping block....
I don't see how having that many will be of that much use moving forward. Most everyone has at least one at this point, many have far more than that. Keep the good, axe the bad. Maybe keep ones with funny numbers like 69 and 420...
I'm treating them like regular pokemon and only keeping ones with good IVs or good CP for training (or predicted CP after evolution in Pikachu's case). I'm going to evolve a few for training and transfer any that get Brick Break.
I don't think trading is coming any time soon, and I don't think there would really be any high demand anyway for Santa Pikachus with bad IVs or Santa Raichus with bad movesets.
Santa Pikachu is really common everywhere. I haven't heard of a place where he's not spawning everywhere.
I think everyone will hold on to at least one Santachu. Probably a Raichu version as well. Even if trading comes out, he won't suddenly become this super desirable pokemon. I've played plenty of MMORPGs where discontinued useless tradable items get traded as a status symbol and were worth boatloads of money, but realistically I don't think that will happen here.
First - Niantic would be better off making exclusives not tradeable. It is the direction other games have gone after realizing how messed up those items are in the economy of the game.
Second - the exclusive is undesirable. You can't really show off a team or anything, so the best you can do is place him in a gym. Pika/Rai chu are not going to last in a gym at all. It's not like a useless hat you can have your character wear that everyone can see you have the $$$ exclusive that no one else does.
Third - as mentioned, everyone has it. I'll definitely be holding on to one or two santachus and sanRais to go on top of my lone normal Pikachu. If anything, I think how common he is will make him less desirable than the normal copy who was hard to find. I had walke my Pikachu as a buddy for 31km and caught enough to have 53 candy and was about to evolve a Raichu when the event was announced. I quickly caught a higher IV Santachu and evolved that instead (got Brick Break, then evolved another high IV with Spark/Thunder) and I sort of feel like I should prioritize evolving a normal Raichu since I don't have one of those.
These things are fun. Still fun. I'm level 34 and have transferred a couple dozen and still have 35 or so. I have three "Raista mon" too.
What's the aftermarket value? Well, if trading never opens, then they're as valuable as regular chus...garbage. Even without Brick Break these things are useless.
