Is there a reason why pokeballs thrown and connect have three/four different distinct sounds, from a variety of areas?

There are 3 sounds for sure, a splat, a ding, and a chime. I've hit these sounds all over the circle when the target is smallest. I imagine its probably to tell if its accurate, because the chime sounds the sexiest.

I only know that critical capture as introduced in the last generation of the main games seems to be a thing--I guess I don't play with the sound on often enough.

It seems to relate to the ring size and the area the ball lands, when it lands on the outside edges of the pokemon you get the squish- with the chime coming from the center
