Snorlax Questions

I have a few Snorlaxes want to power up as defenders. For that reason, I only list the ZH ones. From my gym battle experience, I feel ZH/BS should be the priority. But the 96% one really makes me hesitate. Right now, I have only around 120 candies and I'm at level 35, so I have to make a decision which one to be the first one to power up. Please give me some recommendation.
1. IV 78% Level 25 ZH/BS
2. IV 84% Level 20 ZH/BS
3. IV 96% Level 20 ZH/HB

Another question, maybe not related: I had pretty good luck with 10km eggs hatching Snorlaxes until the generation 2 babies came out. Does anybody know if the baby pokemons has reduces the odds to get Snorlaxes, Laprases, or even Dratinies?

Thanks in advance!

96% all the way :). You can always get candy, but rarely will you get Snorlaxes with excellent IV's.

I'd say the 96% IV is the best choice. The fact that BS vs. HB is so strongly debated just seems to mean that the difference in performance between the two is negligible. I could never pass up power a Lax with IV's that high with a ZH quick attack. BS's utility over HB is far overrated imo.

There is no debate, everybody agree that ZH/BS is superior by far to ZH/HB.

Are you maxing them out or only going to 30?

132 candies is what you need if you're powering up both level 20s to 30, although personally I would power up both ZH/BS Snorlaxes instead, if that's an option.

If you are powering up 2 Snorlaxes to 30, I would definitely go with the level 25 one just because it would cost 28 candies less from not needing to power up from 20 to 25, as for the other Snorlax it depends on which you care about more, IVs or moveset.

I personally prioritise moveset and might also use a Snorlax to attack, so those 5 IV points between the 38 and 43/45 Snorlax don't make a difference to me, whereas I hate using Hyper Beam, and like the speed of Body Slam.

If you're powering them up to level 35, 130 is the number candies to get a level 20 Pokemon to 35, although I'd rather have 2 level 30 Snorlaxes to hold gyms with than 1 level 35 one.

As for egg chances, I have no idea on their distribution.

Good idea. Maybe as a compromise, I'll take the 96% and 84% ones to level 30 first. When I have more candies later I'm max the 96% one. Thank you all for the quick replies.

Body slam is easier to dodge with, but why would a Snorlax need to dodge? ZH/HB does 10% more than ZH/BS with no dodging

damage per HP efficiency is useful for higher level gyms, and even though gyms are easy to take down without needing to be efficient, that's just how I enjoy playing the game. Even if it's unnecessary to dodge every move, I find it more enjoyable to do so instead of just spamming attacks.

Don't focus on IV stats with Snorlax. His awesome base stats and rarity more than make up for any differences between 0/0/0 and 15/15/15 in the real world. Focus on the moveset and level. I say power up the 78% (still considered great imo) and save the candies.

I disagree. I posted a long explanation on the Snorlax post below under "Snorlax leveling strategy". If your playing a competitive area. I think its a bad idea to power up any Snorlax under 70%.
All three are very good, congrats. I would power up all three one by one unless you find something higher level. Depending on your area and how you play I could see powering up either 1 or 3 first. Those egg hatches are a two way sword, high IVs but so costly in candy and stardust.

Wow you're so lucky, 600 egg hatches and no snorlaxes for me.

so for 2 and 3, you would need 32500 stardust and 29 candies to catch up to the #1 guy.
With 120 candies you could power up:

1 to about level 35.5

2 & #3 to about level 34

not knowing where your IVs are actually allocated here's what I get on average.
For the listed above levels:

1 will be ~3050 cp (35.5)

2 will be ~3000 cp (34)

3 will be ~ 3050 cp (34)

The actual stats will be minuscule and may only be affected by an attack or two. Please do note that the CP formula takes into account Attack more than Defense and Defense more than HP. (Where I think that it should be opposite of that)

IMO, BS is a pain in the ass move to deal with, especially when they BS two in a row.

If it were up to me, I would pump up #2.

Go with the ZH/HB. It will also serve as a good enemy attacker when not in a gym. Lax with that move set is the best all-around Mon in the game. Even if HB gets dodge, it still does a bit of damage (which is really annoying as an attacker).

I would power number 2 and 3 to lvl 30. Then start powering number 2 to Max, then number 3. I would use 1 as it is and never power him up or only to lvl30 if I reach over 100 candies.

I have 2 snorlax over 3000cp and it is already very difficult to keep powering them up. Can't imagine 3.
