Simple clarification on launching charge moves

Sometimes, I'm not sure I launched charge moves or not... I long press the screen after seeing the bar fully charged, but I only saw the text and/or animation from time to time.

Am I missing something? Sorry for such a basic question. Thanks.

I am not sure about this, but sometimes i seem to have a full energy bar, then it is suddenly only almost full, not sufficient for a charged attack.
My working hypothesis: This comes from dodging. If i dodge, i get full damage and full energy first, and corrected after a short time.
So i sometimes see a full energy bar, try to launch a charged attack, and see it cannot be launched yet - so i lost time for a quick attack. This is somehow annoying.

This is a bug with dodging, just be sure to keep track of your energy gain -- and if you get a large boost from taking damage that you actually dodged, then just keep using quick moves. I hate getting the "lockout" of the fake charge move, then losing that energy and still being stuck in a cooldown doing no damage.

Yeah, that is directly connected with the dodge bug that they still haven't done anything to fix.

Each pokemon gains 1 energy for every 2 HP it loses.

With the dodge bug, you try to dodge, the game server thinks you missed the dodge and causes you to lose a bunch of HP. Then the client tells the server that you actually did make the dodge, so the server updates and gives you back the HP you lost. When you gain back HP this way, you also lose the energy that you gained from losing that HP.

If you fully charge a charge move while a quick move animation is still being displayed, the charge move animation will not show, but the move will still be launched. It seems to be a display glitch.

If you wait for the quick move animation to finish or use a charge move after dodging, the animation should be displayed normally.
