Should I evolve this Dratini or hold off?

Hi guys,
I'm on an evolution chain now I need to have your sincere opinions,I'm lvl 30 currently

my dratini is 478CP - 86.7 IV @15-9-15 (atk-def-hp)
should I evolve it all the way to Dragonite , would you power it up too? or should I hold off it and hope to find a better IV mon?
this is what I've been asking to myself, i'm in a dilemma somehow...thanks for sharing your opinions.

note: I have 175 dratini candies so far...

Depends on your priority -- to get that perfect Dragonite or to just get a Dragonite while spending minimal resources (candy and stardust). IV is only important if you want to hold top spot in the gym. Otherwise any IV of Dragonite is worth evolving.

It's truly a logical response. Thanks.
Actually I wouldn't power it up too much I guess unless I get a good moveset. It's all about gym standings I know that's why I should wait in this sense . Thanks for insight..

Evolve, that's a solid IV! Unless you live near a dratini nest or happen to get 10K eggs and hatch dratinis frequently, go for it now! That's plenty of candy to level it up to be a solid monster. Good luck on the moveset!

Yeah, that's what I've been told recently.Evolve it, it's got a good IVs. I hardly find Dratinis and there are no avaliable Dratini nest nearby so may be I should consider evolving. I hope I will get a good moveset, we should see. Thanks for comment.I'm considering my options...

Evolve it.

What difference is 6 extra defence going to do for a Dragonite that already has really good stats. Damage is rounded so it's unlikely to make a difference to how much HP you lose from every attack. Once in a blue moon it'll reduce the damage you take from a quick move by 1, which does add up, but potions are plentiful and gyms are easy to take down even with less-than-optimal pokemon.

If it gets DB/DC or DB/DP I would personally power it up, because personally, I want a pokemon for taking down gyms faster with. I don't hold gyms, I just dump a Pidgey or whatever, collect, and transfer when it faints, so I don't have much use for a defending Pokemon.

The way I see it, gym placement doesn't really matter when gyms are too easy to take down. It would matter if gyms were only losing some of their prestige but not all of it, so that the lower pokemon are constantly being kicked out and others are adding in theirs when someone trains up the gym again, but that never happens in my experience.

Thanks for explanation, I should look at the situation now in this respect, may be I should give up trying to be perfect in every sense, I wouldn't be happy again if I had perfect dragonite with a bad moveset in the end. Therefore , you helped me the most thank you, have a hunch it's gonna be good..

Defending Pokemon are still valuable depending on your area. Smaller areas have less pokestops(less potions) less players(less gym turnover) so stronger gyms are still left alone. So SW dragonites are still good. If I put in a pidgey it would last less than a day, if I put a dragonite it will last up to a week.

Depends on your area.
