Should gym ranking be based on HP insead of CP?

Do you think there would be a positive change in the gym metagame if the rankings were based so that the highest HP was at the top?

If hp is the factor than snorlax en lapras are even more common.
I suggest ranking by:
-Level
-The order in wich the pokemon where placed, so if you were first you get the first spot and if you are last you get the last spot.
- no double pokemon in a gym ( only one vaporeon, one snorlax etc )
- only one type (so there can only be one water type , grass type etc )

But in my opinion the ranking by lvl or no double pokemon are the best options.

You can't make level as a factor because people will put level 40 Magikarp winning a level 39 Dragonite.

Well, I personally dun mind having a lvl 40 magikarp or pidgey on the top spot over lvl 39 dragonite ;). If a trainer is dedicated enough to spend all the dusts and candies to lvl up any pokemon in the game, it is fair and square to have it up there

Level won't make a difference because most folks I know level up the highest CP mons anyway (are you really going to start dumping your Stardust in Blastoise vs. Vaporeon?). The only thing that would make a real difference is making the CP much more even across all the pokemons and making the type advantage REALLY significant (like 50% instead of 25%).

But having relatively even CP goes totally against the spirit of the original game...

Initially I was thinking, yes that would be awesome. Now however, I'm not sure it would help much.

The Gym defending meta game largely consists of Vaporeon and anyone who sits higher than her in gyms. Currently that's 5 pokemon, Dragonite, Snorlax, Rhydon, Gyarados, and Vaporeon. If we switch to HP then we only have 3 pokemon who have more HP than Vaporeon and one who is tied. Chansey, Snorlax, and Wigglytuff have more, Lapras is tied. Either way, we are down to 5 commonly placed pokemon.

Also that will turn gyms into a slog... gyms full of Chansey will be even easier to set up because they will sit at the top. Also currently Dragonite, Rhydon, and Gyarados all have double weakness to something... if the other set of 5 become Meta... well... most of them are normal type so good luck getting through all the walls of HP without a weakness to exploit.

Vaporeon needs to be nerfed by about 25%. None of the Eeveelutions should be the strongest of their typing.

Electric should be Raichu, not Jolteon. Fire should be Arcanine or Charizard, not Flareon. Water should be Gyarados, not Vaporeon.

I'd prefer a more individualized approach - maybe Pokemons getting stronger also by their Gym-experience. This would help to get a wider variation of the Gym population.

no it would make shit more annoying because it would take ages to prestige and sometimes you'd time out fighting chanseys. on top of that not much would change because snorlax has the second highest stamina, lapras has this fourth highest and vaporeon has the sixth highest.

What are you trying to change? If it's the variety of mons in gyms, then HP won't do that.
