The in-game announcement said "Throughout community day weekend, you can earn 5 rewards per day from Trainer battles".
It looks like the CD weekend has started already, probably because some of the world time-zones have transitioned to Saturday now. It's reasonable to assume it will last part of Monday as well, at least for some parts of the world.
