I have a 87% Rayquaza. It is worth powering up? I know it's a lot of dust and candies but I'm not entirely sure if I should. It's 13/11/15.

Insanely strong DPS; it's fantastic for raiding. The only thing you have to fear is a re-release, but that likely won't be for quite a while.

Me and my pals suspect that Rayquaza will have a raid day soon. We thought it would be before Mamoswine comes out, but it could be after if they want to beef it up even more. We speculate that the special move will be Sky Attack, making the lord of the air the game's strongest flying attacker.

Or we could be totally wrong, ....

Raid day surely, but not Sky Attack, as it can‘t even learn that. But most likely with it‘s signature move Dragon Ascent, which despite the name is a Flying move, which will likely make Ray the Flying king nonetheless.

If you don’t need a dragon don’t lv it up.... Rayquaza is coming back sooner or later either in raids or field research (personally I’m guessing before the end of the summer) and honestly I wouldn’t dump Rare Candy and stardust in one with those IVs

How are your other dragons looking? Do you have any dragonite?

If you have what you think is a good number of good dragonite, i'd hold off powering rayquaza up, yes rayquaza is good, but it is a lot of stardust and candy. If you have four or 5 good dragonite and dont regularly try doing shortmans of palkia, i'd say youre fine not powering one up

This is my current Dragon-type team:
- Level 40 91% Rayquaza. DT/OR
- Level 40 100% Dragonite. DT/OR
- Level 40 98% Dragonite. DT/OR
- Level 40 87% Dragonite. DT/DM
- Level 40 96% Salamence. DT/DM
- Level 37 96% Latios DB/DC

I was thinking on replacing the last Dragonite for another Rayquaza or a 87% Lucky Palkia that I've got a few days ago. For more DPS.

I would recommend you to hunt more dratini, trade and level a lucky one up. Because of the current event, the spawn rate of dratini has been boosted dramatically.

With that team you're solid. I've been doing fine with level 35-37 Rayquaza and 2 level 40 Dragonites (am adding the 93% buffed Palkia I caught tonight with DM to the mix). That team should stomp all over everything without DM, and should do well in duos for non DM movesets. Zero need to power up another Ray for a few measly DPS at the beginning.

I don't think you're in that bad of a need for upgrade. The DM users are a risk against DM from Palkia, but you'll pull your weight in a trio. The DPS increase from replacing your DM Dragonite with a Ray will only rarely matter. I'd rather save RC/Ray candy for the rerun and get OR as second charge for the DM Dragonite, it should be a pretty cheap investment compared to powering up another pokemon.

I second the suggestion to add a second charge move to Dragonite to get Outrage. I did that for my Dragonite with Draco Meteor and my Dragonite with Dragon Claw. Just be careful when using charge TMs.

I can choose to wait for the higher energy move, or when getting low on HP --or against Palkia with Draco Meteor-- use the lower cost move for some extra damage.

If I didn't think Rayquaza would be returning soon, I'd say sure, why not, those are decent enough IV's. But I think it is very likely that Rayquaza will return sooner rather than later -- maybe even right after Palkia leaves -- and it is likely that you will get a better and/or shiny one. And with the dragon team you already have, you really don't have a pressing need for another Ray that can't wait. So, I'd suggest holding off.

Does anyone know Rayquaza's signature move?

so it's safe to power up / max out a Rayquaza??

I've max out a 15att/14def/15sta Ray. I also have one 14att/15def/15sta Ray but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've been told if you create an account on Pokebattler, you can input your specific pokemon to see how well they work and see how powering up can improve your team.

Other than that, you can look at a breakpoint calculator and power it up to a level around 30 where its performance plateaus, either based on damage dealt or damage received.

dragon-ascent, flying type move.

considering rayquaza already tops Dragon-type DPS, i'd say that if you are willing to put the dust/candies, do it.
