Power up Steelix?

I have a 93% IV Steelix with Iron Tail/Heavy Slam. It would cost me 116,000 star dust and 106 candy to bring it up to my max level. So far I've only been powering up 100% Pokémon, but I'm kinda tempted to break that rule for this Steelix. Thoughts?

Not really worth it, but it would be a good attacker into fairies/Lapras.

It's not even good into Lapras. Steel moves hit Lapras for neutral damage, it's water typing cancels out ice's weakness to steel. Ice moves hit Steelix for neutral damage too but water moves are SE.

So it's only good against a type that currently has no relevant defenders.

doesnt steelix resist every dragonite move or something?
Other than that its a cool lookin mofo. If you are into that.

Only good thing about putting a steelix in a gym is you will make a guy happy because he will get to use a fire pokemon in a gym for the first time and it wont suck

Weak to fire, ground and water -> no good defender

Effective against fairy, ice and rock -> no good attacker

But it looks freaking badass and it can go heads up with Dragonites. I powered mine up too, simply because it like it.

If you can fit lower cp pokemon in your gyms, go for it. It isnt any worse than most the defenders stuck in gyms, and adds diversity.

Wait for the gym rework to see how it will fare before spending resources on it.

I would, I also have a 93%IV Onix and am waiting for a steel coat to come my way.
