Not getting 50 coins? I suggest an alt account
I get 50 coins a day, no worries here. But if i didn't, and it was because i took over a gym, and defended for days, and still waiting on just a measly 50 coins. I would
1) create alt acount,
2) level 5 it within minutes,
3) coose an opposite team
4) place weak defender in gym with original account
5) come back 8.4 hours later, if not kicked out already
6) use alt account to set him free.
2 battles a day = 50 coins ?
Cheating?
Some would compare this to shaving, but in fact, it's all reward (50coins ?) without hurting other teammates. First in, first out. Before anyone says "you're suggesting cheating!!!" I'll go ahead and say "no, Niantic suggested flipping by creating this mess."

Under the old system, I never felt like creating a second account, as level-10 towers were rare in my area.
Niantic chose to replace it with a system that is unplayable for legit solo trainers.
Unfortunately, creating more accounts is the rational (or even only reasonable) way to enjoy the new system.
And there is no guilt involved, like knocking a teammate out for personal gain... too easy. Time = take down 1 gym, place mon, leave, come back later, take out pokemon.
Better than traking out multiple gyms, placing multiple mons, and no rewards because none returned, and then days later all return at once for 50 coins
Another issue with this is that you have to visit the gym to do it. In an area with few gyms nearby I usually use the weekends to drive an hour or so to put my pokemon in some further away gyms. I don't always have time the next day to drive out there again.
Under the old system it was worth driving out and leveling up gyms of your team because they would stay for a few days or more and I could still collect without having to visit them again until they got taken down.
