Is my Lapras good

Hi all,
I just hatched a Lapras, 88.9% ivs (15atk/15def/10sta), lv 20 cp1687. Has best moveset with frost breath and blizzard. Is it worth powering up? Also, is stamina more important than defense? I feel my Lapras' hp could have been much much better. Thks!!

She is a Dragonslayer with good IVs. You should absolutely power her up.
And as Lapras has a quite large stamina pool 5 more stamina wouldn't make much difference.
HP = (Base Sta + Sta IV)/2

thks for the quick reply!

I've tried her out in a few battles against Dragonites (cp 2200 up) already, emerged victorious, but sustained serious damage herself. Is it because of her pre-powered up low cp? I kept thinking stamina's the chink in her armor, or perhaps I didn't dodge effectively.

My friend has a 100% Lapras, with ice shard and ice beam. Mine is better right?

thks again!

As they have great base attack stats, ones with Steel Wing can deal serious damage to low cp Lapras before they faint. (Lapras don't resist steel type attacks.)
Your friends Lapras has optimal moveset for defending. Yours is better for attacking. I would definitely choose yours for taking down dragonites. Moveset is much more important than 10 percent IV.

Many of the Dragonites she encountered had dragon breath and dragon claw. It I were to raise her cp, would she defeat them AND maintain more than half her hp? Beating opponents but losing more health than expected doesn't quite sound 'beastly' to me lol. It confounds me, as to what some people have said, that one Lapras can kill 3-4 Dragonites before fainting.

The stamina is perfectly decent. Dragonites are offensive beasts - you will take damage.

Your Lapras has the better offensive moveset, your friend the better defensive set, but there's not really a bad Lapras.

thks for the reply!

So are you saying my Lapras would fare much more better health-wise if her stamina was 15 instead of 10? As pointed out by Pleindelavie above, the five point gap in stamina doesn't make much difference at all. So how is it that some ppl can take out 3-4 Dragonites with one Lapras? Because that Lapras is above 2500 cp?

I have one with 95%IV FB/DP 2500 Cp. I never tried but I don't think she can take down 3-4 dragons in a row. They are overstating it a bit if you ask me.

You'd need to be exceptionally good at dodging, and they'd need weak movesets for sure.

I'm just curious that's all. A bit in shock that mine gets hit heavily (unless I bring her cp level up it seems). Lapras is really hard to come by though, at least for me. Blessed to have her.

thks!

The stamina IV makes very little difference. I'd still power her up even if it was 5.

Once you up the cp she'll hold her own better.

This is a no-brainer, really. Lapras is a beast, and yours has both great IVs and the best offensive moveset. (I'd power up any Lapras lvl20+ with 70%+ and that moveset). The fact that Lapras already has a huge HP pool, more than makes up for your average stamina IV.

If you're not good at dodging, your Lapras will still take damage. It's a fortress, but it's not invincible. A low CP Lapras like yours won't be able to take down multiple 3000CP dragonites. That would be pretty imbalanced.

I have a 55% IV Lapras at 2083CP. She has no problems taking down 2 Dragonites at 2500CP or even severely hurting 2 Dragonites at 3000CP. I think people who say they can take down 3-4 Dragonites with one Lapras, probably fight Dragonites around their Lapras' CP and dodge all incoming attacks.

the 10 stamina makes almost no difference (all the more so as Lapras already has 260sta so 15 sta would only make 2% (5/260x100) difference. Stop focusing on it.
You Lapras is a very very good attacker. You probably never find a better one.
I personnaly prefer Ice beam over Blizzard for attack and defense even though blizzard has higher DPS for attack.

You can defenitely power him upto make him a dragonite killer when you attack gyms . Or you can leave him as it is now for friendly gym training to kill 2000-2600 Dragonite. Depends on what you need most
