How good is honchkrow for Machamp solos?

I was looking over the raid counter guide, and noticed it wasnt on there (as well as additons like rockslide to its moveset, and meteor mash metagross in the counter list), so I was wondering.

I have two perfect, high level murkrow, and I know with sky attack is the best/one of the best DPS flying attacker, but how good is it for solos? I'm assuming it faints out significantly more than moltres because its neutrally damaged by both fast moves and its a glass cannon too.

Fast and frail.

It has Mewtwo levels of DPS but only a total damage output anywhere between a third and half of what Mewtwo can do. It's far and away the fastest non-legendary option, unfortunately its typing means it takes at best neutral damage from any given attack. This coupled with its low defenses don't help its case for longevity.

I wouldn't be worried about gearing up for Machamp solos at the moment since it's not an active raid boss due to the Valentine's Day event.

Among non-legendaries, Alakazam is faster, with generally better survivability.

Honchkrow is good, though, and can help you get ahead of the clock, if your lineup includes something else tanky enough to compensate for Honchkrow's fragility.

It's close, and depends on the specific moveset and the level they're being compared at. Pokebattler ranks a better TTW for Alakazam at levels 40 and 30, but Honchkrow has a slightly better one at level 35. In my first statement I only looked at pure DPS on the spreadsheet on this website where Honch's is notably higher.

Well, glad I have the two best nonlegendary machamp counters, caught a perfect Abra probably 5 minutes after seeing your first post.

Well, I think we can both agree that Honchkrow is not, as you originally said, "far and away the fastest non-legendary option."

The only potential issue with Alakazam is that you're likely relying on a one-bar move (future sight) for maximum damage output in this scenario. As with all Mons that rely on one-bar moves, you run the very real risk of your Alakazam fainting with a not-quite-fully-charged move. Given that Honchkrow has a two bar move in sky attack, this risk is less prevalent.

That said, you're right that both are good nonlegendary options.

Seriously the expert in all things Pokemon Go is struggling to make a Machamp sole squad!?!? WTF!?!?

It’s very bad because of the dark typing. It will be less bad against heavy slam sets because it damages psychic types and non dark flying types just as much

The only scenario where I would use a honchkrow is against a psychic/fighting type where the dark typing helps more than being a liability
