You might have to install Google ARCore from the Play Store.

I actually have a problem with that, ARCore doesn't support my phone. I tried to install it outside of the Play Store but the game just freezes for some reason... I think that it might be because the version I downloaded was for Android 9.0 and I got 8.0 but I'm not sure.

If ARCore doesn't support your phone I'd hazard a guess that you can't use AR+. But obviously if you want to try, start with downloading the correct version of ARCore, it's pretty much guaranteed to not work if you download the wrong version.
