How crap is this event?

Am I the only one, who thinks, this event is utterly trash? Have only seen one Chansey, Porygon and Lickitung each in 2h playing in downtown, but had tons of Whismur, Skitty and Hoppip. In other words: trash I get tons of outside of any events anyway. Not to mention double candy for catching only is pretty much useless except for Palkia grinding with those kind of wild spawn.
The Chansey quest is ridicolously difficult, at least it eats up a ton of time and blocks a quest slot.
Oh yeah and they didnt even give us a new shiny...
I thought the last event was a complete joke, but at least it had Electabuzz as an interesting spawn...

I’ll take any alteration to yesterday’s (actually today’s) much crappier event. Double catch candy>>double catch XP

I don't know, last event gave me a 100% Dratini so I'm not in a position to call it crappy.

I'm a bit glad the event isnt something super amazing, the double candy is useful, I had number of stacked dratini it got more candy from. Double candy's good for meltan, which is something too

The chansey encounter task is....rediculous I agree, but its not the most necessary for finding them, as chansey is a tier 3, pairing that with three catch a chansey for 3 RC each is easy RC farming plus you get a chansey out of it.

But on another note, im glad they arent making every event super pressing to do, last event burned me out as there were dratini, torchic and electabuzz very common and also in high demant for how good their evolutions are/will be. Chansey, while it is good as blissey, its main use is gyms, so getting large numbers of them arent the most pressing to get, at least in my oppinion.

Also look at it in the prism of the swinub event, you’ll get stardust and tons of extra candy. My level 40 has 1900 candy but not that many luckies; my level 39 has many luckies but only 440 candy...I can go plus on the 39 til I run out of reds and still get enough candy on it, I can then turn the 2nd off.

Seriously if you aren’t well over 1000 Swinub candy you either just started are without a doubt absolutely the worst gamer ever

Or maybe they live in a biome where Swinub is extremely rare and have enough life to be unable to grind Swinub candy during relevant events.

I’m not a math magician, but Close to 400 candy to take a level 20 Swinub to an evolved maxed Mamoswine. 400 x 6 is 2400, then shiny evolve(s). Need a lot of candy, especially if you have a GF, kid brother, and/or cousin that occasionally plays

I realize this is biome dependent but hopefully by now most people would have found some higher than level 20 Swinub to keep?

Why would you need to max six though? Evolving a team of level 30 (or better, lvl35) Mamoswines will suffice for most of its use cases.
I'm not limited by either resource and have more than 6 evolvables with 96% or better IVs, but I don't see any point using my stardust on Mamoswine currently.

According to pokebattler, its a joke, with one maxed machamp, or possible two (with the first fainting) you can solo it in about 104 seconds at most.

Trivial solo, easier than some tier 2 raids. You can for example do it with level 20 Machamps or level 30 high DPS neutral attackers.

Chansey more easily available with double catch candy? Absolutely fantastic for players in areas where gym defence matters.

One Chansey, one Porygon and one Lickitung in two hours is fine. I see them in the wild less than once a month each. Making them common spawns would be annoying and unbalance the game.

They made Chansey relatively common in the wild last September in the Kanto event and that didn't unbalance the game. All the hardcore players already had their gym defense armies anyway.

Not to mention gym defense is a joke now, especially after the stat rebalance and effectiveness change. The best defender is still an attentive player with a bag full of GRB.

I would love to see an official announcement that Cleffa and Smoochum shiny are out .... Because other than a few click bait sites I haven’t heard jack shit about new shiny

It has recently been confirmed on TSR.

I will believe Dronpes until someone proves otherwise.

It’s a shit event just like the last one was .... Niantic is eventually going to annoy everyone with there constant pandering to casuals returning and rural players.... seriously when was the last time we had a new Pokémon that was worth raiding? Palkia looks awesome but it’s a third rate dragon at best, the roll out gen 4 has been handling incredibly badly, PVP is a bust ... The Kyogre and Groudon event was cool and all but how about something NEW and worthwhile to raid ?

I’ve caught 28/32 Palkia, a dragon with 280+ Attack will get casual/after-work raiders interested, especially if at a busy park. I do like that it is somewhat far back, hear a lot of those casuals saying “I’m 1/4 or 2/7”, uh just a suggestion: spin it faster and throw it far.***great for 2nd/3rd account bc it lasts a while w/o maxing it, those accounts lacking 6+ maxed dragons

The game is built for big city players.
Why do you begrudge at least some temporary spawn changes/increases for players outside the big cities?

When trying to cater to a global audience, it is going to be difficult to pander to your personal situation and wishes at all times.

Palkia is the second best dragon in the game currently. Being limited to DM makes it a bit risky against some raids, but it's got higher cycle DPS than Dragonite or Salamence and packs a set of resistances that other dragons don't share. It's actually better than Rayquaza against some of its own movesets according to pokebattler. That kind of performance is nothing to scoff at, Palkia is a great legendary and well worth raid passes.

Not sure what you mean by the Chansey quest. There is a "Catch a Chansey" for three rare candies, and "Catch 20 Luvdiscs" for a Chansey encounter. Catching 20 Luvdiscs is pretty easy, and then the Chansey encounter can be saved for later, possibly even for when three "Catch a Chansey" tasks are stacked. So, that is potentially one of the better features of the event, i.e. a chance to farm both rare candy and Chansey candy.

Double candy is okay, especially for Palkia, but it would be a lot better if it were double candy for everything (egg hatching, buddy walking, etc.).

In general, I agree, the event kind of sucks. Last year around this time, we had triple stardust for like two weeks straight, with the Lunar New Year dog event, the Valentine event, and another event that I can't remember, running consecutively. Triple stardust is something I could get excited for.

If it ends up being good for farming rare candies, like the "evolve three Shuppets or Duskulls" task for Halloween, then that will be good enough, I guess.

What you call ridiculously difficult I call pleasantly challenging. If interested in Chanseys, catching 20 Luvdiscs during this event is MUCH faster and easier for most players than the normal hatch 5 eggs. It creates a nice progression, first collect "catch 20 luvdisc" quests to get Chanseys into your queue, then cash in on "catch a chansey" quests to get free rare candy.

The one thing I hate about this event is making pink pokemon more common in 7km eggs, I'll have to go back to stop eggs for the duration of this event. More Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum? No thank you.
