Has it been confirmed that certain regions have exclusive pokemon?

mainly asking since I live in an area with open access to the ocean, does this mean I get more water types than normal? the only fire type I have seen so far is Ponyta and I have only seen ponyta maybe a handful of times.

I've heard from the officials that there will be exclusive pokemons in certain regions, so I'd say yes.

Yes, water Pokemon are more likely to spawn next to water, and likewise with fire Pokemon spawning in drier areas.

I recommend watching this video that is based on in-depth research:

Man this sucks for us NZ people as well as people in the pacific, if Kangaskhan is only exclusive to Australia in the whole pacific. We don't fit in any of the other continents. :(
