So I was lucky enough to be touring an out-of-state, historic plantation over Christmas, and found 2 mid-level gyms of my team. I prestiged both up and dropped some good but not super defenders (Slow-Bro and Snorlax, both around 2100 CP - high enough to take the top slots). To my delight and coin-loving joy, they are still there over a month later!

In retrospect, it makes sense - the gyms are only available by walk-up, and requires a fairly steep admission fee - and it's not exactly a hopping tourist destination (although my wife and I were interested).

I was reminded of this by another post about someone's "crown jewel" gym, and wondered about other stories of similar treasures?

The gym in which I've received the most coin is a gym that took me forever to prestige up. Not because the battling was hard, it was from walking around in circles with my phone in the air trying to find the 1 square inch that had internet reception.
Totally worth it.

There is a gym near the most popular Pogo spot in NL which is bugged and has been blue for an eternity. I'm very jealous on the players who are in it.

I got 2 Pokemon in a gym for more than 2 months now. I think players sometimes just don't bother to battle a level 10 gym. Rest of the gyms changes from team really often

Theres a gym in an abandoned monastery in the middle of a field near my hometown which i added to 6 weeks ago and its still going strong. I dont see it dropping anytime soon.

Theres another ive my eye on in a castle thats lvl 8 and has been for 2 months. 8 euro admission fee. Next time i visit my parents i intend to get in there. Might as well see the castle while im at it and explore the local heritage.

Nice! It does seem like an admission fee is a strong barrier... have fun exploring!

Gym around my places (in Bangkok, Thailand) normally last for minutes, level 10 never lasted more than a few days, typically just a few hours.

I used to have mons in the gym that last about a month quite a few times. Those gym are either require admission fee or at the location where people would not stay for long time just to wipe level 10 gyms.

I found a small town just off the highway on a route I drive semi-frequently that, despite it's size, had 4 gyms, and they were always high level Instinct. Held spots there for a long time until they did the change that made it twice as easy to take down gyms and twice as hard to prestige them. Every time I've gone by since, there's been one sole person on Mystic at each gym.

Gym in someone's backyard next to a field with a solid fence between. You can barely reach the gym if you stand against the fence, and half the time you'll drift out and red error. It's level 10 now, and no one wants to bother with an hour or more of trying to take it down but getting red errored along the way. Spoofers used to love this gym, but it seems like they are fewer these days.
