No way to know for sure, but I doubt it ma dood

Lots of fake news and fake youtube videos with lots of drama... They are just trying to get you to click on their link for them to get advertising revenue. If you read closely, a lot of the words are "supposedly", "apparently", "users speculate", etc.

And now, my own speculation. Given the pace of events (Halloween, Thanksgiving), I would expect Niantic to have a major event around Christmas / New Year's. Releasing 100 Pokemons feels like too much though, in the heart of winter for many people. They still have to release the legendary birds too (Articuno and co). If they were to release the birds around Christmas and have some other event (e.g., double candy or increased Lapras spawns or eggs hatching with 1/2 the distance or whatever), this would keep the momentum and get more players heading into spring...

Personally, I would wait until the Spring to release Gen 2. Right now, they need to keep the hardcore players interested and keep the fringe players coming back. Adding 100 new Pokemons would be too much, IMO. But again, this is just my own speculation (and I get no ad revenue :-)

I was hoping the big December update would be a whole new app. Different menus, music, ways to filter, personalization, some gym changes, in game base stats, etc. More of a finished game overall.
