Feraligator (water gun / ice beam) any use?

91% IV Feraligator, was hoping for hydropump but looks like this is a good defense moveset / B attack moveset. Anybody with experience with this moveset?

To me it is almost useless on attack, because I've got plenty of Pokemon with either double ice or double water moves, so I'd rather choose one of those. You could use it against Rhydon (weak to water and ice), but again it isn't as effective as a double water.

With the current gym setup, he really isn't a viable defender at all because his CP is too low.

In theory it's a good defender. Ice covers waters weakness to grass and IB is a really good 2 bar defensive move (good damage and fast). Only problem is low cp in current meta. If you are a fan of diversity then it's not bad at all

I find WG/IB to only be useful if I'm rounding out a team to take on a gym that is rhydon and dragonite heavy, because it functions as a "decent enough" counter to either.

That way, if my primary Rhydon killer (vape) or dragonite slayer (Lapras) should get knocked out early, I would still have a viable pokemon that could take on either fairly well.

That being said, I almost never use mine, and tend to rely on other "all around general attackers" as a back up. Snorlax, Gary, another Vape

I've met one in a gym and it was a pain in the @$$. Ah wait, it had Bite. Then yours is even better.
