Do Stat-buffing Moves Still Only Work in PvP?

Just wanted to make sure, because I'm wondering if having Ancient Power would make things like Omastar slightly more relevant as gym attackers/defenders.

Yes, but that applies only in PvP, right? There's a 0% chance in PvE if I understand correctly.

Correct, the stat buffs only work in PvP, so they won't apply in gym/raid battles.

Maybe this will change down the road, though a raid boss getting multiple stacks of attack/defense buffs sounds pretty dreadful. Some of them would quickly cross into unbeatable territory for smaller raiding groups.

Thank you for the explanation. Much appreciated! I have one follow-up question, then: As it stands now, can the stat buffs stack in PvP like you are saying with your raid boss example? Maybe they could just make it non-stackable to implement it into PvE?

They can, yes. I don't remember how many times they can stack before they hit the cap, but it is entirely possible to get a stat buff to proc multiple times. At a 10% proc rate, it's rare that the buff will hit multiple times, but if it does, it makes a massive difference. I believe each application is a 50% increase to attack/defense, so its pretty significant.

I fought against a Giratina recently in ultra league that got the buff to proc twice on the first two Ancient Powers it used. Needless to say, I did not win that battle lol

Good to know. Thank you!
Edit: Oh, and one last question: How long do the stat buffs last? Is it just until the next charge move, or is it until the end of the battle?
