Ditto problem

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

One by store. One in neighborhood. Both pidgeys. They aren't anything spectacular, so don't worry too much.

Similar to redeye, I caught two in totally random places. One by the beach on the Santa Monica pier and another in a park by my house. Both Pidgeys.

I haven't done anything with either, aside from making one my buddy. Both low IVs so I'm holding off on doing anything like powering it up.

I've caught 5 so far. 2 at a local park and 3 in my house. 3 have come from Rattatas, and 2 from Pidgeys. I, too, have wasted a ton of balls since Ditto was announced. I'm hoping to catch a high IV one.

The only thing I resent about it so far, though, is that Niantic has now tricked me into actually catching Zubats.

It seems to be random. I've caught 6 so far. All from different places. Home in bed, rural gas station, state park and three downtown.

I'd stop focusing on trying "hunt" for one. Just play as you normally do and I'm sure you'll get one. It's too stressful to worry about when there is no real way to track them.

5 so far. One outside my house, the others just around town whilst grinding my way through Pidgeys and Rattattas. You'll get one eventually, and they're a novelty rather than genuinely useful (I reported experiments with a decent lvl29 in one of the recent ditto posts a day or two ago). Good luck.

I caught 4 in two days on November 23 and 24 but 0 today. The 4 I got were in 3 different locations, two near a city library, one near a hospital and one in my house. 2 were Rattatas and 2 were pidgeys. Most were easy to catch but one was very stubborn and broke free many times.

Just keep trying, you'll eventually get one.

Caught 5 at Housing area, city and park. (First day I get 1 while i was on catching tour for 4 hours. The other day 4 during 2 hours on my gym tour) They just spawn randomly. A friend caught one out of Incense's zubat.

"wasting balls on pidgey" whaaaaaaat!?!. I caught 2380 so far and none of them was a wasted ball. They are quite important.

I had the same problem, I was almost out of pokeballs for two days straight because I caught every Pidgey and Rattata I came across... and I live on a pokestop! Then yesterday I finally got two Dittos in 15 minutes at a local park, and another one on my way back home lol. So just keep trying!

caught mine after 4 hours of catching every pidgey, zubat and rattata I saw. There were no giveaways- it was just a 168 pidgey with a green ring, caught with 1 ball.
