A Dewgong Question (and a "True DPS" Question, for that matter)
So I was conducting my own personal research to Dewgong, and as I was studying
https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon/87
I got confused
Frost Breath: dmg = 9, CD = 0.81
-> DPS = 11.11; 13.89 with STAB
okay, no problem here
Ice Shard: dmg = 15, CD = 1.40
-> DPS = 10.71; 13.39 with STAB
okay, no problem in understanding this part either
But, now, as I was about to conclude that Frost Breath had the better overall DPS, I saw this:
Ice Shard: True DPS = 10.00
Frost Breath: True DPS = 9.88
So, why is suddenly Frost Breath lower in "True DPS" compared to Ice Shard? Did I miss something in the mathematical calculations?
Answers
No, it is correct. I just did the math.
The reason because the "True DPS" is different is due to rounding with the floor formula. It seems that a higher attack base will result in quick cooldown moves having higher DPS.
Dewgong
IS =(FLOOR(139/200151.25,1)+1)/1.4 = 10
FB =(FLOOR(139/20091.25,1)+1)/0.81 = 9.8765
Lapras/Cloyster
IS =(FLOOR(186/200151.25,1)+1)/1.4 = 12.8571
FB =(FLOOR(186/20091.25,1)+1)/0.81 = 13.5802
...very interesting.
