Corsola isn't considered a regional?

Let me tell you a little story:

I live in a place far away from Corsola's spawns. This summer I went to Brazil for 2 weeks. I was in Buzios, Rio and Sao Paulo...Corsola's were nowhere to be found. I've found one in Lima, Perú while traveling back home. I traded one of them to a friend (We were ultra friends at the time), that trade costs us 1.600 Stardust. Corsola isn't considered a regional species?

1600 dust is the cost to trade a regional, between ultra friends, when it is not yet registered to the dex.

Corsola only appears in the northeast region of Brazil so it does not spawn in neither Rio or São Paulo and to answer your question, regionals trade cost are the same as normal pokemon, hope it helps.

Yeah, after getting back home I realized Corsola appears in places like Natal and Fortaleza, then from the most part of Peru up to Taltal (Chile). Thank you for the answer.

I think the confusion stems from a misunderstanding of what constitutes a special trade vs a regular one. Four conditions fall under special trade:

- shiny Pokemon
- legendary Pokemon
- unregistered Pokemon
- unregistered forms/cosmetics (Spinda patterns, Hatchus, etc.)

For most people, unregistered Pokemon is pretty exclusive to regionals. If someone traded me a Pachirisu the trade would be special because I don't have it registered. If someone traded me a Huntail it would be special despite not being regional because I don't have it registered (I didn't get to partake in Clamperl weekend due to family matters).

However, if someone were to trade me a Kangaskhan it would be a regular trade despite being regional because I have it registered. Regional status has no effect on a trade being special; what makes them special trades is that 90% of the time they're being given to someone who doesn't have it registered yet.
