Cloyster FB vs IS

So i evolved my second cloyster after grinding candies for many days...i play since day one and i'm left out with this:
1)14xx cp IS/blzzard 93% iv
2)13xx cp FB/HP 82% iv.
49 shelder candies..
I dont have a lapras yet as its the last pokemon i need for dex and i can't find one..So can anyone that has a high level IS cloyster help me out? I want to power it up so i can use it against dragonites..Is it worth? or should i wait another month or two to evolve another cloyster and hope for FB/blizzard (1/6 odd)
edit: I tried out the IS cloyster vs dragonites..i can fit 1 is in dragon breath and 2 in steel wing, since I have to dodge with cloyster in order to surive..

my 2 cloysters with IS/B are great against dragonites, so i say power it up if you have no Lapras. one of mine is 2053CP at 30Lvl (84.4%) and can make it through at least 2 dragonites with dodging, so yours should do even better!

I've got both IS/B and FB/B and whilst FB gets results a little more quickly IS works well enough.

Yep - I use both as well. Anything with Blizzard is worth keeping.

Just want to note - don't bother dodging quick moves. No dodging, you lose like...2% DPS or something dumb. It's barely noticeable.

However, if you're dodging everything you'll lose out on a good chunk of DPS. You can only fit 1 in between Steel Wings vs. 2 FB so it takes forever to charge up Blizzard and drags out the battle (which means dodging/eating more charge moves)

You'll notice a difference more if you don't power it up and try to prestige with it. FWIW, I've found in this case that doing 3 quicks and doding every other SW works best.

GL and congrats! :)

Ι find it difficult for my town to use it as a prestiger since in my area despite the existence of many dragonites in many gyms, they aren't high level since they are rare...thanks though for the full explanation behind your thought process, appreciate it a lot!

Thank you for helping debunk the myth that it's better to dodge everything. It's the same with Alakazam; dodging quick moves hurts you more than it helps you, but the pundits who like to dodge everything will never admit it.

IMO FB is much more convenient, IS is too slow. Even if you only dodge charge it is much more likely you'll miss one with IS.
But it make no sense to power up HP Cloyster to kill Dragonites.
So if you do not have many Cloysters there power up #1.

IS works fine. I used an IS/B Cloyster (CP 2100) as my main Dragonite killer for a while, until I was fortunate enough to catch a wild lvl 30 Lapras with the same moveset. The Cloyster handled CP 3200 Dragonites, as long as I didn't miss any dodges on charge moves.

IS is slower than FB, but it doesn't seem as clunky as Razor Leaf on a Venusaur, for example. And IS gives you flexibility to use the pokemon on defense as well as attacking.

Just spammed FB... As what I do since my charged move is IW.

save your dust, just evolve a lvl ~30 shellder.
