CD Pokemons to expect

What Pokemons you guys think will have CD? We could expect shinx, bagon, ralts?

Pretty much anything is possible, but I'd generally rule out anything that already has a shiny form or a baby form. Unless it's very popular (think Pikachu and Eevee), probably only 3-stage mons as well.

As such, Shinx probably won't receive one, but could possibly see some other type of event. Bagon and Ralts are likely candidates.

I think that Pikachu got a CD because he's the mascot of the Pokemon frenchise... and Eevee because it was a promotion to the Nintendo Switch Pokemon game... aside from these two, every single CD was focused on either a starter Pokemon, or a Pokemon with 3 evolution lines. And we also saw that CD's can be also for Pokemon that require an evolution item (such as Mamoswine), so it's possible that a Pokemon like Porygon can get a CD in the future.

I think mamoswine's was more for introducing a new pokemon (as mamoswine was probably the second/third most anticipated gen 4 pokemon for its offense oriented attributes, like Darkrai and Garchomp once movesets were revealed) and PvP mechanic , though if niatnic adds status conditions, Porygon may get Tri attack like mamoswine did for Ancient power

Assuming the next CD won't be about trying to introduce a new evolution somehow (like Magnezone), I feel like Ralts is the most likely. It's got the 3-stage evolution, there's no shiny yet, and if you look at types represented across CDs, we've not had a day for Fairy types yet.

A cool twist would be to have the exclusive move be a Fairy fast move.

What about Lucario? Hee needs a better moveset

Lucario likely will get something at some point, but moves arent Lucario's only problem, its stats. Its only hope is for aura sphere to be amazing down the line as its attack isnt much higher with less raw bulk compared to machamp, its steel type can make up for it (iron tail tyranitar, stone edge tyranitar, and various moves on blissey/defenders), but in some cases it will be either irrelivent (v dark type tyranitar moves) or a liability (fireblast tyranitar, EQ lax, or fighting moves on any of the regi's). Even if it gets meteor mash, Lucario has absolutely no shot at comparing to metagross, it outstats in bulk and attack.

The other problem for it is Riolu, it's a baby pokemon and babies dont appear in the wild, I could see some kind of raid day for it, or some kind of evolution event like what they did for breloom. Its bad moves are actually due to the main series, as most of its fighting moves arent in the game(aura sphere, focus punch, force palm, mach punch and a few others)/are bad (close combat/focus blast), its inability to get dynamic punch is mostly what causes a problem as machamp is just much better

For PvP, its moves are fine for ultra, but not for raids, it seems like its geared more for that at the present moment in my oppinion.

But lucario have more at stats compared to Machamp, I though if he had a CD with dynamic or meteor will be so much better to use in meta. I hatched one 93% at15 and not evolve yet

Lucario's attack is only 2 points higher than machamp's (with bulk somewhat comparable to gengar with slightly more HP, )

HP 172
ATK 236
DEF 144
(comparable to gengar: similar defense, about 15 more HP, but 25 less ATK, glass cannon stats without the atk/moveset to back it up)
Machamp
HP 207
ATK 234
DEF 159

IT's a trade off of 2 attack points for substantially lower bulk. The reason beloom has an edge is its attack is notably higher, 241 compared to 234

Lucario with those moves will be better (though it cant get dynamic punch) but it wont be a stand out, its competition is machamp and meteor mash metagross, very hard pokemon to stand out against. Lucario needs a moveset much better than machamp to make up for its lower defense, as it will more often than not faint out (as when it comes to fighting offense effectiveness profile compaired to others of same effectiveness, metagross is best against rock and ice types, and against steel types moltres holds the edge so fighting type like Lucario/machamp's matches are double weak to fighting double weak to fighting, or are normal or dark types (or pokemon of the steel or rock types that have another typing that makes steel/fire not the same level of effectiveness against, think rock types like tyranitar). Agaisnt dark types, steel doesnt resist dark anymore, so machamp's better bulk wins there (main targets tyranitar) and agaisnt something like houndoom, Lucario's steel type hurts it, so even if they are dealing near same damage per second (or Lucario even slightly more), but the more frequent fainting out Lucario has hurts its true over all DPS. Its only chance to stand out against machamp would be against normal type like blissey, (but the gym meta is very different than it was 4 months ago, gyms are rarely normal centric these days) Or things like Tyranitar with iron tail/stone edge, or any time its steel type is beneficial (and this is assuming it gets a good moveset, these days machamp is still better because Lucario's moves are much worse comparatively)

Given better moves, Lucario wont be bad, but it likely wont be meta defining unless it gets a MUCH better fighting move (as a steel attacker metagross outstats it too heavily)

Small word for Lucario's side: Post the SE modifier change, it's tankier than Machamp against anything that is resisted by steel, which includes common anti-fighting moves like psychic and fairy. With a similarly good moveset, it would be the superior fighter in some situations, like against Blissey.

For expecting events, my thought process is this.
Bagon, definitely.

Ralts, possibly

Every starter and pseudo legendary from all gens

But given niantic's record with CDs I think we can assume three stages, as pikachu and eevee were done for reasons dealing with things related to the series itself, not a pattern, Pikachu because its the mascot of the series and Eevee simply for cross promotion with PLG

On top of Bagon and Ralts, there could also be Trapinch and Slakoth.

But really, there's still a lot of possibilities. Regardless of meta relevancy, just looking at all the 3-tiers families without a shiny, we could have:
Poliwag
Abra
Machop
Bellsprout
Oddish
Horsea
Hoppip
Lotad
Seedot
Whismur (Boomburst!)
Spheal

Abra CD would be really frustrating: “Oh no! The wild Abra fled.”

Imagine the Reddit posts about shinies fleeing.

They'd probably have to change the flee chance, like how they buff catch odds on other CD mon

Do people really have them flee often? They seem easy to catch.

Up

They have a 99% flee rate if not caught. But the catch rate is pretty good so usually they just stay in the first ball.

Machop would be interesting, a better fighting set is....definitely something that would make impacts in the game.

Best way for Niantic to troll us after everyone maxes out their Conkeldurr.

Rhyperior with Earth Power!

I meant Rock Wrecker, which is its signature move. Got them mixed up since I have not actually played the later-generation console games.

Well, rock wrecker's its former signature move, other pokemon get it these days.

But it would be good to have.

Magnazone with Thunder Wave which first doubles the opponent pkmns fast move cooldown time then does same damage as thundershock

People will get mad if they ever announce a shinx CD ... some players have spent a lot of money on passes to get that shiny shinx and if they will be there in the wild that common on a community day then those players have every right to get angry ... also it will kill niantic's purpose of not giving them a normal wild spawn like other pokemon's
