Blissey as deterrent: two questions

Do you think a defending Blissey serves a deterrent that discourages enemy trainers from attacking a gym? Does the presence of a defending Blissey discourage YOU from attacking an enemy gym?

It probably discourages others. I like taking them down though and am more likely to target a gym if there is a Blissey in it.

I actually try to find Blisseies to try out how to beat her!
But my 2797 Blissey P/DG had been sitting in a gym for quite some time!
One Blissey is not enough, need another one or Snor (especially BS) to thwart attackers.

If an opposing gym is lower than level 10 and the bottom slot is a Blissey, then, even if I don't have enough time to take down the whole gym, I like to knock the Blissey out so lower level players can either build the gym up or tear it down.

1.) Yes. I have had a 2200 CP, 98 IV, P/HB Blissey in a highly contested gym (shes sitting 8th) since about 4 days after gen 2 came out. I also have an 86 IV, 2800 CP, ZH/BS Slax that I had been putting in that same gym since I was level 25 when I got him (I am 30 now) and he would get kicked out about 3-4 times a week.
2.) Hell no, bring it! My 89 IV DB/DC Puff the Magic Dragon eats those eggs poached for brunch.

Agree with 1. My observation: I have a 2600CP P/DG Blissey that I dropped into a gym that had previously changed hands every day or so, and it's been stable now for over a week. Somebody else kindly put a 2500CP Vaporeon in it so that others of my team could prestige it. 2600 is a nice CP for a Blissey - not too low but not too high.

Regarding 2, I think a big Blissey will never deter level 30+ hardcore players who put their minds to it, but it does scare off more casual players. And even hardcore players, when given a choice of multiple gyms, will probably choose easier prey... especially since Blissey is pretty rare in my area, only showing up in maybe 1 out of 5 gyms. They will go beat up the other 4.

  1. I think so, gyms in my area were already stagnant before Blissey was added.
  2. Not always. Sure they take longer to defeat but you can just spam attacks against them, whereas other defenders that do more damage will trade about evenly if you don't dodge.

1 i didnt evolved my chansey yet, so i dont know.

2 it depends, when i have time to sit and take down gyms, i take them down and thats it. but most of time i'm between work and playing Bass and a lot of commitment with just a few minutes to play the PoGO, so i avoid blisseys to enjoy the rest of the game.

A defending Blissey most certainly deters attackers, more so in colder cities.

It depends on my goal when i go for gym battles.
If i need coins, i'll skip those Blisseys.
But no Blisseys can stop me to take down level 10 gyms when i have times to waste :))

It depends on if I'm up for a bit of a challenge. Last night I took down a level 10 gym solo that had 7 Snorlax all above 2800CP, the other three were Vaporeon and gyarados. Just because I had a ton of potions and I was tired of looking at it. If a gym had more than two Blissey I can't imagine it would be worth giving it a shot solo, just not worth the effort to slog through it, unless one was in the bottom slot maybe.
