Attacker Tier List: No Mamoswine

Had a brief look at the updated Attacker Tier List, and noted Mamoswine was not listed. The list revision may have been rushed to include new additions such as Palkia and Rampardos, but it is unfortunate that the (arguably) most anticipated ice-type attacker was forgotten.

The flavour of the month is still focused on Palkia vice Latias, despite the latter having a weakness to ice. Latias will also soon be the only T5 raid boss for a short time.

Keeping this post in the spirit of a Q&A forum, my question is where would you rank Mamoswine on the Attacker Tier List and why?

I'd say tier 2, at least right now. Mamoswine's good, but its time to shine is really against double ice weak dragons and occasionally ground types not double weak to grass/water

That said, mamoswine is the single best counter to dragonite, salamence, flygon, and on release, Garchomp. the first two are frequent gym sights (both likely for candy and dragonite for beign a good defender) and on release, people will likely dump tons of RC into gible to get a garchomp just to stick in gyms.

Giving it a second move Bulldoze would be good at giving teeth against metagross/melmetal/tyranitar (though against metagross, fire types might be preferred).

Also, little aside, I dont really get why rampardos is 1.5, rock isnt that good of an offensive type at the moment, it's DPS is high, but not a lot of things are weak to rock right now (really only dragonite, and mamoswine's got that covered better), and it being as glassy isnt the best for gym sweeping. Am I missing something?

Tier 1.5 is for Pokemon that are the best at what they do, but are lacking in more generalist roles. Considering the other members of Tier 1.5 like Gengar or Kyogre I think it's a safe home for Rampardos, the fastest rock-type attacker around.

Tier 1.5 sounds right to me. Its ice type supremacy will likely only be contested by Kyurem-B/Kyurem-W, which are legendary formes we have no way of knowing how they will be implemented. Among non-legendary Pokemon it's the uncontested best. The fact that its more specialist than generalist would keep me from putting it into Tier 1.

Dragonite is among the most popular and toughest gym defenders. I am seeing more Salamences in gyms and expect Garchomp to eventually join them. With Mamoswine the best Ice-type for all generations (contested only by Kyurem), I would place it at Tier 1.5 rather than 2.

On the other hand, with the effectiveness changes nerfing elite generalists like Mewtwo and Rayquaza, I would promote Metagross and Tyranitar to Tier 1.

Considering that Machamp, Metagross and rock Ttar send their best regards to the ice family, I wouldn't rate Mammoswine tier 1,5. Tier 2 sounds more reasonable imo.
