About moves damage

Machamp is a pokemon that I like very much, however, most of the comments say that his best moveset is bad in terms of damage. There is something I don't understand. If I check the page of Machamp it says that Cross Chop deals 44 dps, whereas, the base damage of that attack is "60". When I use my Machamp in a battle I really feel that Cross Chop doesn't do great damage, but why the page says that Cross Chop deals 44 dsp. Or how can I understand the influence of the base damage of an attack in its final performance. Another example would be Dragon Claw vs Dragon Pulse. Dragonite's page says that Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw would be his ideal moveset, however, Dragon Claw's base attack is 35 whereas Dragon Pulse's is 65. Shouldn't Dragon Pulse do more damage than Dragon Claw in that case??
Thanks for your comments!

What hurts Machamp is his quick move. Some of the worst in the game plus hes made of glass. If Machamp had proper quick move like stab water gun he'd be a beast.
DC is better attacking and DP is better defending. DC has a short windup and release so you can squeeze it in between most of the quick moves plus DC charges so fast. Taking into account just one time use DP is better and more damage per move but over the course of a whole battle DC is superior on attack because of its higher weave DPS and damage differential. Both DP and DC are very very strong moves. You would think DC would hit harder on def but if you fight Dragonites you will find DC doesnt do much damage on def and DP is a heavy brick to the face.

Dragon Pulse does more damage, but it takes longer until you can go back to attacking.

Dragon Pulse does 65 damage but it takes 3.6s after starting the move until you can perform another action (attacking again or dodging), while Dragon Claw does 35 damage and it prevents you from doing anything else for only 1.6s

If you do 2 Dragon Claws, it'll do 70 damage but it will only take 3.2s while Dragon Pulse does 65 damage and takes 3.6s, so if you somehow had infinite energy, you would do more damage over time spamming Dragon Claw forever than you would from spamming Dragon Pulse.

Alternatively you can think of it like this. After using Dragon Claw, you have 2s where your Dragonite can perform regular attacks where one with Dragon Pulse would still be in the charge move. Dragon Breath takes 0.5s so you can fit in 4 quick moves, which is another 24 damage, for a total of 59 damage but you also gain 28 energy so you're only 22 energy off the next charge move, while a Dragon Pulse user would be 50 energy off, so over the course of a battle you'll end up using more Dragon Claws than you would Dragon Pulses, which results in higher damage over time.

I got this. And what about the base damage of an attack vs its actual dps? The dps available in each pokemon's page is calculated acording the factors you mencion?
It can be tricky to observe a Cross Chop that will theoreticaly deal 44 dps when it's not actually like that.

True DPS takes into account the Pokemon's attack stat and assumes the defender is the same level as the attacker, has 100 defence, and neutral typing to the move.
