PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Confusion + Future Sight is Mesprit's highest DPS moveset.
  • Swift and Blizzard aren't worth running.

PVE Overview

Mesprit has middling attack, middling defense, and middling stamina. While it's not necessarily terrible, it's not particularly exciting either. Higher Psychic-type DPS than Lugia, but lower than even Confusion/Psychic Gardevoir. If you have access to Alakazam or Espeon, I have a feeling you'll want to leave the Emotion Pokémon on the bench.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Confusion + Future Sight and Swift

Like the other members of the Lake Trio, Mesprit’s role in Pokemon Go PvP is to counter the Fighting meta with Confusion. Confusion, 4.00 DPT (Damage Per Turn) and 3.00 EPT (Energy Per Turn), is a staple of Pokemon Go PvP to counter the Fighting type Pokemon as it will hit them for considerable damage. Future Sight, 120 Damage and 65 Energy cost, will do great damage if you are able to get it off on an unshielded opponent, however, Mesprit’s damage will be coming from Confusion. Swift, 60 Damage and 55 Energy cost, is a really bad move for its low damage to energy cost ratio, but it can do some decent damage in the Great League.

Confusion + Future Sight and Blizzard

Again we are going with Confusion, 4.00 DPT (Damage Per Turn) and 3.00 EPT (Energy Per Turn), as it will cover the Fighting meta in Pokemon Go PvP. Future Sight, 120 Damage and 65 Energy cost, will be the best option for a charge move available to Mesprit as it has great damage for relatively low energy cost and still able to cover Fighting and Poison type Pokemon like Toxicroak and Tentacruel. Blizzard, 130 Damage and 75 Energy cost, will give you cover over Grass, Flying, Ground and Dragon type Pokemon, if they choose to not shield they will be blown back to the ice age.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 1/5

Mesprit isn’t the best option when it comes to the Great League, it’s Confusion damage will still make it viable but its lack of depth in the charge move category sets it behind its peers.

Ultra League: 2/5

We start to see a rise in rankings according to PvPoke.com for Mesprit in the Ultra League, this is due to its increase in stats which will allow it to get off its costly charge moves Future Sight and Blizzard. You will need to watch out for Giratina as this is his kingdom.

Master League: 2/5

Still somewhat relevant, Mesprit has some nice key matchups in the Master League, but you still need to watch out for Giratina and Tyranitar.
