Your Attacking team??

What are your best attackers for the common Gym defenders? What movesets do you find the most damaging and effecient? Any unique strategies? I have been using Dragonite(DT/OR), Exeggutor(ZH/SB), Venusaur(VW, SB), Jolteon(TS,TB and Discharge) Ursaring(C/CC), Vaporeon(WG/HP)

2 eggs, 2 vapes, 1 jolteon is the standard I can use to take a gym in my area.
The 6th will be one of these 3 or maybe a Rhydon if I find Snorlax, or Lapras if there are Dragonite.

I may use a Dragonite, or Alakazam or some other generalist if I feel like mixing it up - but most of the time I can get away with the basic 3.

Of course, it depends on what is in the gyms in your area.

I generally use
Against dragonite: cloyster (FB/A)
Against snorlax and blissey: rhydon (MS/E)
Against vaporeons: venusaur (VW/SoB) with exeggutor (ZH/SoB) as backup
Against exeggutor: flareon (FS/O)
Against rhydon: vaporeon (WG/HP)
Against gyarados: jolteon (TS/TB)
Against espeon: gengar (SC/SB)

I'm thinking of leveling up a confusion/solar beam exeggutor to use against vaporeons, blissey, and snorlax as a primary attacker. I would love to have a machamp with good moves, but I don't have one.

Machamp only shines against lick Snorlax. Maybe its just me but mine has counter close combat and I dont really use it.

That's good to know. I have 2 Machamp and one has 2 steel moves and the other has some other crap moveset.I use a Pinsir(2100cp) with 2 fighting moves to switch it up sometimes vs. Snorlax.

What about pound blissey? It seems like it would work great against her, especially with a hyper beam charge move. I've seen videos where machamp did work better than rhydon or dragonite against this blissey.

What do you usually use against blissey?

How about vs. Tyranitar? You have a Pokemon that you prefer over machamp?

3k+ CP Dnites with DB/DC, DT/O, and DT/HU. That's all I need. I'm really starting to like DT/HU but DB/DC always manages to take out the most defenders.

I just took out a level 9 gym 2700-3200 CP defenders with my two DB/DCs and DT/HU.

3200+ CP Dragons, 3 DBs, 2 DT/HS, 1 DT/HB. I sub these with Jolteons, Vapes, and others as needed or as is optimal. The occasional Gyrados, Scizor, and a few others too.

Obviously every gym is different, so I have a team that I select from. My A-Team is...
3000 cp Dragonite (DB/DC)
3000 cp Dragonite (DT/O)
2670 cp Blissey (P/DG)
1700 cp Forretress (BB/HS)
2500 cp Alakazam (PC/P)
2200 cp Alakazam (PC/FS)
2500 cp Vaporeon (WG/AT)
2575 cp Exeggutor (ES/SoB)
2400 cp Golem (RT/SE)
1860 cp Lapras (FB/B)
2470 cp Machamp (KC/CC)
1800 cp Umbreon (FA/DP)
2200 cp Venusaur (VW/PB)
1900 cp Tangela (VW/SB)
2460 cp Muk (PJ/SW)
1850 cp Jolteon (TS/TB)

I know I have a few odd options, so I will explain them...Muk is a bulky generalist attacker. I find him useful in diverse gyms. Forretress is extremely underrated. I use him against Snorlax and Blissey, as he resists nearly every one of their attacks. He is also a good generalist attacker. Blissey as an attacker is incredibly bulky and hits Dragonites really hard. My 2 Alakazams are my Kamikaze crew against Blisseys (though my Eggy is my primary Blissey counter.)

I have a similar forretress but have not used it in battle I will try it out, same with umbreon. I have a high Iv muk that I will give a shot too thanks!

Umbreon really tears apart psychic types. It will take out 2 Eggys with minimal dodging, Espeon and Alakazam are even glass cannons, so they fall really quickly.

I have only evolved 1 Umbreon for the Pokedex, which moves are useable? I have Snarl/Foul Play which isn't optimal I don't think.

That's what's great about this game. Everyone has their favorites or underrated mons. I'm gonna try a few of these ideas. I'm a Level 34 played and I'm starting to use lower cp attackers as my battling has improved and potion efficiency becomes more important.

Forretress has the same typing as scizor. Would you use scizor instead as an attacker if you had a good one?

Yes, I would like to try one out. It isn't as bulky, but it has a better attack stat. I'm still waiting on those elusive metal coats...

Lately the gyms where I live have turned into blissey stacks. So, I use whatever can put out enough damage to take a blissey without timing out: Flareon FS/OH, Exeggutor C/SB, MaChamp C/DP, Dragonite DT/H, MaChamp KC/Submission, Dragonite DT/H, would be a typical lineup. I'll slip in mon with type advantage for the random Gyrados, Vapereon, Rhydon, Dragonite, that are occasionally in the gym. I can relatively take my time with the later. So, my selection is less constrained, and I'll mix it up. ZH/OH Flareon also work, as do ZH/SB exeggutor, ZH/FS espeon, or PC/P Alakazam, if I'm short of potions and revives. Missing a dodge on a charge attack hurts. When the opponent is low on HP spaming might prevent a charge attack.

How do you like Machamp with KC/Sub? I've evolved 8, 7 got bullet Punch and went to trash last got KC/Sub 96% its at level 20 now, I assumed it was garbage also as doesn't seem to do much damage and figured I would hope for nest change with Machop and try again :(

My choices are below. They are based on a combination of analysis/simulation, then comparing the ones that do well in real battle and choosing what I prefer. I generally dodge everything and am not rushed for time, which influences selection. As one can gather from the list, my MVP attackers are Vaporeon, Tyranitar, and Blissey. My Dragonites and Snorlax see far less battle time than they used to prior to gen 2, as I often prefer substituting them for Tyranitar and Blissey.

--Vs Blissey --
I'll choose B/SE Tyranitar if it the Blissey has HB or P. Nothing else compares. If it has DG, then I'll usually choose Vaporeon if I am confident I can finish in the time limit. If timing may be close, than I'll include Dragonite or Tyranitar.

--Vs Snorlax--
I'll choose B/SE Tyranitar if it has BS or HB. If it has EQ or HS, I'll usually go with Vaporeon.

--Vs Rhydon-- Vaporeon

--Vs Dragonite--
I'll usually choose P/HB Blissey. It retains a far higher % health than anything else.and usually finishes in 30-40 seconds. If I am in a rush, I may choose an ice type.

--Vs Gyarados--
I'll usually choose P/HB Blissey. It retains a far higher % health than anything else.and usually finishes in 30-40 seconds. If I am pressed for time, I'll choose B/SE Tyranitar or Jolteon.

--Vs Vaporeon--
I'll either choose Dragointe or P/HB Blissey, depending on how rushed I am for time.

--Vs Tyranitar--
Vaporeon. I might go with Machamp instead, if I had one with a good move set.

--Vs Exeguttor--
DT/H Dragonite, B/SE Tyranitar, or P/HB Blissey depending on how rushed I am and rest of lineup for other battles.

--Vs Flareon/Arcanine -- Vaporeon

--Vs Espeon --
Either B/SE Tyranitar or P/HB Blissey, depending on how rushed I am

--Vs Machamp-- DT/H Dragonite

--Vs Alakazam -- B/SE Tyranitar

I love your list because not many people actually use Pound/HB Blissey, but I can't figure out why. She absolutely ROCKS.

I don't carry around anything less than hyper/max potion to conserve bag space. A revive + hyper fully heals my Blissey., and I do far more enemy gym damage with that revive + hyper by giving it to my Blissey than any other mon. It's not unusual for me to lose as little as ~10% of HP in battles with a Gyarados or ~15% against Dragonite (depends on moveset). The main downside is being slower than other options.

How high of a level is your P/HB blissey?

I'm going to have to consider using P/HB Blissey as an attacker. It's so tempting to use blisseys only as defenders when you don't have many. I only have two blisseys evolved right now, and one of them has P/HB. I wonder if I should switch her to attacker.

If I'm being serious:
Gen Attackers: DB/HB, DB/DP, & DT/O Nite, B/HP & DT/O Gary, L/HB, ZH/HB, ZH/BS Lax, WG/HP & AT Vape, B/C Tyrant, & FS/OH or FT Flareon

Niche Attackers: C/CC & C/DP Champ (Blissey), MS/E & MS/SE Don (Snorlax), TS/T or TB Jolt (Gary & Vape), ZH/ SB & BS/SB Eggy (Vape), FF/FB Arc (Eggy), & FB/B Cloy (Dragonite)
