WORST. EVENT. EVER.

No Gengars with Shadow Claw.

No guaranteed Rare Candy from raids.

Giratina gets the worst charged move in the game instead of the decent Shadow Ball which it could learn.

INABILITY to evolve Murkrow or Misdreavus. You can't evolve old pokemon either, because their brains are too simple to think of evo items.

Quests are seemingly underwhelming at best.

Only good thing is Togetic in Tier 4.

If this is an event, i might as well as pick up cat poop 108 times and call it an event.

Any questions?

What in the actual f*ck? They won't allow you to evolve old Pokemon in Gen4? You must be joking.

That's not it. It's just that the new evolutions of old pokémon have not been released yet, even if some of them are ghost/dark and Halloween would have been a good time to do it.

This was a great missed opportunity to bring back Gengar with Shadow Claw (and Dusclops also cannot be evolved), but I am pretty sure we have seen worse events.

This event is underwhelming, yes, but FAR from being the worst. Aside from the skunk and Gastly, pretty much all of the event spawns are potential shinies (with Drifbloom being the new one). There's new boxes, and they're actually pretty good. Double candy from catches is better than nothing.

No Gengars with SC doesn't surprise me at all. That was something players had speculated on, but was never something that was in any way hinted at or guaranteed.

That said, Giratina is an underwhelming t5 raid boss (meh stats, craptastic moves), not being able to evolve Mons like Murkrow and Misdreavus for the event is a real missed opportunity, and the lack of a new loading screen is disappointing.

Not having a new loading screen for Gen4 was disappointing too :(

I fully agree. The Psychic event earlier this month was so much worse than this, come on.

Yes, they could have given you at very least the rest of candy bonuses for transfers, buddy distance and egg hatches, or at least increase again trade candy rewards. But it's far from the worst event ever, tbh.

"No Gengars with SC doesn't surprise me at all. That was something players had speculated on, but was never something that was in any way hinted at or guaranteed. "

Absolutely true. We must stop thinking that because something is speculated again and again, it has to happen at some time. Niantic never even suggested that could happen. And it could be said about many things. Don't wait too long for Precipice Blades Groudon... It might come... or not... just don't expect it or you might be disappointed. I even don't think about PvP, apparently they said something about it but very blurry...

Lower your expectations, or don't expect anything, just take what comes and do your best with it. This game is way more satisfying this way :)

Wait, did Togetic become a tier 4 raid boss?! Is it duoble?

Up

It be, according to Pokebattler you just need ultra-best friend and lvl 30+ MM Metagross

Some people believe things are always the best ever or the worst ever. Those people are usually 5 year olds.

Quite B*tching, you entitled brat. So what if we dont have SC gengar back, its not like its good now that mewtwo's gone and new psychic countering class cannons will be available after (even if we could get them now, they still arent as good as the dragons vs giratina) Keep in mind that SC Gengar's also one of the most overrated pokemon, even against its best match ups its viability is related solely to the fast move of the boss

These quests are FANTASTIC, evolve 3 shuppet/duskull for a rarecandy, catch 5 poch/hound for a raid IV quality Sneasel not being good? are you crazy? Thats fantastic to get en mass. Giratina's an easy raid boss, a very welcomed thing after the brutal battle that was mewtwo raids. It not being good lets us build up rarecandy for other useful legendaries.

You're focusing on what you didnt get and what you wanted, and saying the events trash because you didnt get it. If you actually saw what this event had, you wouldn't be crying and complaining.

No this isn't the worse event ever, that's definitely hyperbole. Is it a good event? Not really, and pretending is also not good. Heck if it was just double candy instead of double catch candy, that would have been something. Double catch candy isn't really a bonus if all the pokemon in the wild are useless. At least we could have got double candy from eggs and transfers, that would have been something to get excited about.

Trainers from year 1 pogo remembers the worst event ever. It was famously named "dick in the box event" https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/shop-box-terrible

Yeah it should have been double candy in general.

So many of us who have been playing since year 1 have been running out of pokemon storage space and voicing that concern all summer. If Niantic wasn't going to upgrade storage space now, they should have added the ability to get double candy from transfers. It would give people incentive to clear out their storage. Some of us are holding onto pokemon specifically because we're waiting for a double candy transfer.

It's especially important to those of us who live out in the middle of nowhere and don't see many event pokemon as is.

Genuinely, why would they bring back a legacy move on Gengar from 2016? Lol. Cmon everyone.

Body Slam Snorlax says hi.

That *could* have happened. But was it guaranteed? Certainly not.

You didn't even mention the two worst things about the event. No Lavender Town theme and no double transfer candy.

Expecting double candy events is just rookie mentality by this point. Get good and realize you are not entitled to anything.

Also, expecting something without justification and getting disappointed for not getting it is precisely what separates a child from an adult. It is your own childish wishful thinking that is making you all so damn pathetically miserable all the time, you miserable dimplecakes.

I don't know, Niantic has done double candy events before and it ties into Halloween. That much I could see being expected or hoped for.

I have no idea why people held onto hopes of getting Shadow Claw Gengar so much. While it's a sweet novelty it's just that - novelty. I'd bet a majority of people who want one would have zero clue how to get the most use out of it.

I'd even go as far as saying most people won't get that much use out of it. The advantage you get from leading into Mewtwo with one is now gone and was never that significant anyway because group size matters more. It's useful for some solos, but again, most of the playerbase isn't into challenge solos. I just don't get why it has become such a meme.

It doesn't effect me since I have a few SB gengars, but even I think they should have done it, if just to appease the community; which is exactly what events are. Without shadow ball, gengar is pretty much useless, which sucks because a lot of people like him. You're right though it's also not that amazing, but all the more reason to add it back.

It's weird to act like it would be a bother for Niantic to do this, It was something that was already there. They flipped a switch to turn it off, they can flip a switch to turn it back on.

"Without shadow ball, gengar is pretty much useless" EDIT: I assume you mean Shadow Claw.

In matchups where SC Gengar has the highest DPS, Hex Gengar has the second highest DPS. There are only a few niches where the difference between them matters that much, like Claydol solos or Mewtwo duos.
