That's kind of how I have resigned myself to the rural player situation - I just ignore the legendary raids now. I have to agree with Forbes contributor Paul Tassi, who writes about the game a lot, that Niantic has really screwed up this whole legendary rollout. They are almost impossible to get for many players - like you and me - while others, who happen to have large groups available, get so many that they are neither rare nor unique. What's legendary about that?! I could go on, but I'm frankly tired of the whole legendary situation.
I think they have alienated many players - this site does not have a representative sample, with many more hardcore players than in a typical community - and if they don't come up with an inclusive special event soon (double XP, quad dust, etc) they may lose many previously loyal trainers who now feel left out.
Yes, we're left out - if you make legendaries impossible to get for some (even 100K eggs would be better than this current system) - then don't be surprised if people run for the hills!
I'm forever patient and hope Niantic will see the error of this legendary fiasco ... and my main motivation for playing, the exercise inspiration, hasn't changed ... but I'm starting get just a little impatient (and yes, frustrated and discouraged).
P.S. In the meantime, while ignoring t4/5 raids, I have set myself a new goal: soloing t3. I think that's more challenging than attacking a raid boss in a large group with Blissey.
