i'm level 37, so EXp's not much of something I need, and Megnium's not too useful of a pokemon. might just go out get a good iv one and a shiny to stick in gyms or use against something like starmie if it ever comes back. All I know is I got my eye (and pinab stores) on the real prize niantic let slip a few days back

Already had our day.
Only caught 4 shinys. It was, cold, raining and i stood under shelter for most of it with my little group. Did a couple of mewtwos during the event, one i missed the other had poor IV's.
It was not a fun event and Chikorita doesn't interest me much, i just did the event and went home. Meganium is not a good Pokemon so didn't care about IV's. Like you said, the real event is Metagross in a months time ;)
On the way home i caught a 100% machop, highlight of my day.
I thought it was a good day to pace myself after an intense summer.
Went for a walk to my favourite park. It was a nice morning. Put a couple lures, one egg, starpiece and incense that take room in my bag. Played for 45 minutes and managed to get two shiny. Evolved a few meganium in my way home. By the time Ditto spawned massively I was home and didn't bother to get out again.
As you say, IF next month is beldum I better save my energy. Today was about ticking on the box ✔
I did the event some hours ago and it was okay.
Chikorita wasn't the most interesting Pokemon to chase, but it's always fun to try and get as many shiny as possible.
I got about 450k XP, which was nice. I'm already at lvl40, but only need a few more million to reach it again. I therefore used a few Lucky eggs so as to get as much XP as I could.
Spent the day mostly indoors at a mall, but had to go outside to do a few Mewtwo raids. Caught a couple or so weather boosted ones, but I haven't checked any IVs yet.
As for shiny, this was perhaps my worst CD yet. Only got five, which is like half as many as my previous "worst" CD. None had good IVs, so I ended up evolving the highest CP one and then a couple of 96% Bayleef that I had hatched some time ago.
But I had good company during the day and I've always liked CD, even when the featured Pokemon isn't exciting.
If Beldum is the next one, that will be way more interesting.
