What is my best counter for Tyranitar?

I've been holding on to candy and stardust to power up a Machamp from a raid, and I haven't been lucky yet. All of them I've caught have either had mediocre ivs, steel moves, or both. So the stupid question I ask myself is this: which of the following is my best Tyranitar counter as is. No powering up. The candidates:

Dragonite DT/O level 33 3188 cp
Vaporeon WG/HP level 33.5 2870 cp
Ursaring C/CC level 30 2283 cp
Machamp C/CC level 20 1611 cp (my best one from a raid at 84%)

These seem to be the most obvious choices from my collection. My real question is which is best? Exploit the double weakness from a low level (machamp) or lesser mon (Ursaring)? Single weakness, lower DPS (vaporeon)? Pure DPS (Dragonite)? I feel stupid that after all these months of fighting against Tyranitar I still don't know who my best option is.

EDIT: forgot to add I have a level 27 or 28 Poliwrath B/DP 1914 cp

A better phone than me, group of 11 beat this, I fainted right at end, got back into catch the boss...won't let me throw the ball or a berry. I was 5 machamps and a poliwrath. SOME of the raiders were trying...this is still happening, 35 minutes left on countdown. Not sure whether to close PoGo app, likely have to. My. 5 Machamps are two C/CC. And three C/DP ranging from 2204 to 2140. Poliwrath was 2045 RS/HP...Stone edge is really harsh

I closed it, let me back in the lobby with enough time for a solo try!
Not like it was a sure thing I would catch it, only caught 1 of the 3 from other raid victories

From the ones you listed, Vaporeon is your best Tyranitar counter. You don't have a Poliwrath with DP? That's the second best counter after Machamp atm.

Yeah, I agree with this. In my case, I probably should have put in a 2850 Vaporeon at the end for survival, if not another 2795. If you are with strangers (some high, some low), think about both damage and durability.***When I realized I was fighting with players that weren't doing much damage, and I was dying too quick, I probably should have left on my own, then rejoined the battle after taking a little rest. Trying to come back after fully fainting obviously causes many network issues

Low level Machamp is still good. Vaporeon is slightly slower, but good if you need to last long.
Dragonite with steel wing outrage is also good. Beware of stone edge though.

Am I right in saying that my Vaporeon will last considerably longer, but during the battle my level 20 Machamps will do more damage? And if so, how do I balance survivability with damage output?

What is the size/experience of your raid group, in my raid there was one other guy that was good, a few kids, spouses, etc. It took us about 145 seconds to beat it, my guys couldn't survive long enough against stone edge. I almost got back in, but the network really didn't like that I had fainted. And, FYI, if you do faint, go back to the gym spinner and it SHOULD let you try to catch the defeated boss, evidence being my painful screen shot

I have a pretty solid and mixed group. 10-20 people for Ttar. Levels 25-35 mostly with a couple higher. The last ttar raid I did had 19 and we finished with lots of time left.

Stick some Vaporeons in there, they are effective tanks. Even if you don't include them b/c you want every ounce of DPS, tell your raidmates to have Vaporeon as tanks instead of the autoselected tanks that have no attack ability

That ursaring;

Vape has 205 base attack whereas ursaring has 234.

Vaporeon: 1.2 (STAB) * 1.4 (SE) = 1.68x
Ursaring: 1.4 (SE) * 1.4 (SE) = 1.96x

Water gun's dps Ian slightly less than counter

Vaporeon is 33.5, ursaring 30, but since both are at least 30, the difference in levels is not as significant as if it were between say 23.5 and 20 (due to half of the power up increases per level).

For these reasons, Ursaring with C/CC is looking pretty hot right about now

I just got rocked by Stone Edge (granted he'll be in a group that knows how to better play), but his prayers for Fire Blast would be a lot more advantageous if he had at least one big Vaporeon in the lineup.
