What do you guys think the next Silph Road Cup will be? What types of pokemon will that league consist of?

The Silph Road has cups for PvP where people can compete against eachother and then get points that is registered on the Silph League Arena.
Local groups create local tournaments (seeing as you have to be near the person you're going to battle).
Each tournament has certain restrictions. This months cup is called the Boulder Cup and you can only use Fighting, Steel, Ground and Rock type Pokemon.
A great way to make things more interesting.
Anyway, next month will have a new tournament/cup (I think) and it will probably focus on other types, so the OP was just wondering what types we might see then.

There's a good chance they're probably going through the original Kanto gym badges in the order most players receive them.
Brock is the first gym leader, who gives players the Boulder Badge (hence the inspiration for January's tournament name, The Boulder Cup), so I'd guess that next month's cup could be inspired from Misty's water-based team and will be called The Cascade Cup.
If this hypothesis is correct, February would almost definitely be water themed. Maybe also including Psychic, since her signature Pokémon was Starmie? Could be fun! :)
I think this is an excellent guess.
I was going to guess water, ice, psychic, and electric.
Electric because to me, Starmie was always good because it had access to thunder.
However I had completely forgotten that in the Gen 2 shows Misty gets togepi as her "signature" Pokemon. I think that's a much more reasonable guess. Although it's entirely possible they just leave it at 3 types.
if its kanto badged like people are suggesting, then i'd assume the water one next, I dont remeber what its called as I dont like kanto nor care to remember it. (mad genwnners?)
Of that we could probably assume water, ice (as a number of water types are also part ice, and the seafoam islanders are where a large number of ice types are found, also being only accesable by water)Possibly fairy given misty's connection to togepi, but I doubt this last one. I dont know what else could go for it, though i'd be interested in finding out.
If it is water, B/C gyarados will be a monster, as its likely azumaril will be there, water types with poison moves, or even tentacruel might become good
I doubt Gyarados becomes “a monster” because of it’s stat distribution is heavily weighted towards attack, thus not that good in a CP capped league. Apart from that, B/C is not a good moveset when it is doing neutral damage. Bite’s EPT is low and Crunch is only 1.55 DPE. On top off all this Gyarados is going to struggle against Azumarill (resists this moveset, in fact, resists all of the moves of Gyarados) who will be everywhere.
Bite crunch does good damage, and it is spamable, theres also not a lot of electric or rock pokemon that are water or ice. Only one I can think of is lanturn, which is an HP sponge with the slow charge beam.
Theres probably better pokemon out there, but in touraments where X type thats not weak to the other types and also resists itself exists, the ones that have a diverse, unresisted moveset likely will take the spot. Also having a stupid high attack stat does help, as you're going to be outdamageing opponents much more. It might also not be great league for the next one
On its own a gyarados wont be good, but no pokemon on its own it, its the rest of the team that also makes the pokemon what it is.
When the bouder cup was starting people where I am were thinking flygon was going to be everythere because in great league right now its great, but I haven't heard anyone bringing it because everyone was expecting it to be brought
Lanturn is an excellent pokemon even in type-unlimited great league. CB isn't optimal, but TB is one of the best charge moves and Lanturn has a very good typing with only two weaknesses. In a water-themed cup, it would be even better than normally, in particular being a good counter to Azumarill, which will be a force in any cup where it's legal and all other types don't naturally counter it.
You are right in that Bite has good DPT, which is an important factor even if it's often not as valuable as good EPT, but Gyarados really does not perform that well because its stat spread is suboptimal. Azumarill in particular demolishes Gary regardless of movesets and Bite Blastoise does as well.
