Vigoroth in great league?

Hatched a 100% Slakoth few months ago, I just decided to evolve to Vigoroth and power that up to 1490. Born w/ Counter/Brick Break...theoretically would Vigoroth be a quality great leaguer? If I got a 2nd move for it (bulldoze), on a potential community day could Slaking potentially get another exclusive charged move along with an improved fast move? If so, what might that be?

I fought against someone with a Vigoroth last night and while it's certainly not going to be meta-defining, I would certainly say that it's a decent contender. Counter hits hard, brick break is very spammable, and bulldoze provides relevant coverage.

Here are roughly the stats you're looking at for a 100% Vigoroth at 1490 CP (I hatched a hundo Slakoth as well, so I ran the numbers through Calcy IV):
Attack - 120
Defense - 110
Hitpoints - 140

Slaking has a lot of issues, I evolved just one and then traded it. For some reason I feel Niantic would almost enjoy taking it from zero to somewhat relevant with a no-TM community day. However, I’m not likely to give this two charged moves, might switch this to bulldoze if PvP picks up steam (online indictator/message capability). Vigoroth is not vulnerable to types other than fighting, but with fighting and ground moves it would do no damage to Skarmory, Altaria, etc

It would do neutral damage to Skarmory, due to steel typing. Neutral is better than nothing.

With Counter, yes, as steel' weakness to fighting would cancel out the resistance that flying has. Bulldoze, however, would still get resisted as a result of flying being immume to ground (2x resistance in Go).

I use mine with body slam. Counter is enough in a favorable matchup, and BS hits a bit harder.

In a neutral matchup, you can stack two of them, tank one charged move, then blast him twice in a row. It can often pull some shields, and pave the way for another pokémon.

I appreciate the feedback from the above 3 contributors. I tested mine (still with C/BB) and overall Vigoroth has potential and not a sunk cost like some other PvP options. A very good fast move and multi bar charged moves keeps it on the offensive and a considerable bonus that it doesn’t get railroaded by any moves other than fighting moves.

I've used Vigoroth and it's been a very good starter most of the time. There's rarely any need to swap it, as it does alright against pretty much anything. Counter is so good, Body Slam is so spammable, pretty much nothing resists both of them. I like it so far.
