Umbreon/Espeon Evolution Criteria

I thought I had a handle on how this worked, but I'm not sure about a particular case. I know I need to:

(1) Walk at least 10k
(2) Earn at least 2 candies
(3) Evolve while Eevee is buddy, from buddy screen
(4) Evolve during day for Espeon and night for Umbreon

Things that I don't know for sure:

(5) Do the 2 candies need to be consecutive, or could I walk for one candy, switch to a different buddy, and then walk for the second candy later?
(6) Can I un-buddy after the 2 candies, walk with a different buddy (e.g. during the night if I want to wait until the day to evolve Espeon), then re-buddy the Eevee for its evolution at a later time?
