Trading is coming

Fair point, I just kinda pulled numbers from the air. It still doesn't change the fact that the requirements are pretty steep, in particular for those who live in less dense area or those who don't get out to play as much. I live in a city and I definitely don't rake in 50k dust daily. I suppose that's the nature of the game though, you either go hard daily or get called a filthy casual for not having a constant supply of 300 rare candies and 2 million dust.
And what's the practical application of trading 30 legendaries that get their IVs rerolled? Where's the benefit when you factor in that it costs 1200000 dust per month if you first wait 90 days for the max friendship level?
I'm much more worried about the unfair advantage of +4 balls always for every raid that multiaccounters will get.
The example screen for trading shows Pikachu:
CP: 427 range 323-427.
HP: 47 range 42-47.
In this particular example, they only get worse. It's possible some of the range will get better, but I suspect a net loss of IVs on trades. That's one way to stop farmers from farming, trading and selling accounts.
It's bad for hundo hunters, as trading away a 100% will likely give the other person something less than 100%. Curious what will happen when trading a 0%, or a legendary 10/10/10.
The biggest immediate bonus is that when raiding with a best friend, you each get +4 balls. That's huge. So make friends with everybody at every raid you go to - you never know when it will pay off.
The gifts also look nice. Giving free stuff and getting free stuff is always fun.
So trading 100iv pokemon will be impossible?
It's apparently a gamble based on the friend meter and level. CP and HP (why are they different?) will be changed based on that, so is it possible to actually gain iv points?
I'd rather be able to trade a single perfect pokemon once a month for a hefty cost than none at all.
This sucks.
This is mainly to get collectibles and fill your dex. Meh
Overall, I'm... not particularly enthusiastic about this addition. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, sure. But it looks like a way to reward current multi-account players more than anything else.
Will have to wait until we see the actual implementation and limitations. How many gifts can I get per day from a single player, for example. How will the Attack and Ball bonus work when you're doing raids with people who aren't at the same level of Friendship? (I raid with my wife and daughter, we're "Best Friends", then we do a raid with a new player that isn't even on our friends list. Do we lose any bonuses, similar to how the catch bonus is derived from multiple bonuses when applicable?)
Can I "breed" a Perfect IV Pokémon via Trading now? It looks like when you trade Pokémon between Best Friends, you get a significant bonus to the CP range after. So if I trade a Pidgey with a 90% IV with a Best Friend and it goes up, can my Best Friend trade it back to me and have it potentially increase again? Is the only limit on this the Stardust cost?
Etc.
All in all, this looks... nice. But I wonder if the potential upside for Multi-Account players is too high, and the upside for single account players is too insignificant, to make this an exciting update for those of us who pretty much play as a single account.
According to an interview IGN did with one of Niantic's software engineers, the bonus premier balls will be determined by the highest ranked friend who's in the raid with you. So the max you can get is +4 premier balls. Bonuses won't stack, and raiding with someone of a lower ranking friendship won't reduce the reward either.

Actively playing with other people, from the look of things. Not simply actively playing - it looks like you can only get that by attacking a gym or doing a raid.
And no, there won't be a noticeable advantage for the multi-accounters to begin with. Not in the first the 30 days or so, no. But from the 30 day mark onward, multi-accounters are going to begin to have an advantage, and from 60 days onward they will have a huge advantage. My wife, daughter and I could have that same advantage, and we likely will. But it's highly unlikely that I'll have anyone else as a "Best Friend" for a year, simply because most of the people I raid with are adults with kids and 8-6 jobs, so if I see the same people more than 4 times a week, it's probably the first week of a new Legendary and most don't have a good one yet. (It was much better when the Scanners were active and Raids were far easier to coordinate; if scanners come back, it might get up to 5 times a week at Raids for a few of the people I regularly raid with)
So I might end up with 5 people (outside of family) in the first year who I am on a "Best Friends" basis with in Pokémon Go. And that's assuming THEY continue to play at the same level they've been playing at since Raiding began.
It will be interesting to see how many players here will have a "Best Friend" 90-100 days after this feature is launched, who isn't one of their second accounts or (like me) a family member. And how long it will take some of us to get our first "Best Friend" in Pokémon Go.
This is a good system that will absolutely tilt trading toward people you know and away from spoofers.
It will also make this a good system for completing the pokedex and maybe some rare characteristics (legacy movesets) without focusing demand on perfects or high IV 'mons and allowing profiteering.
It will not be bad for multi-account players, but it is spoofers and profiteering that need targeting.
And the friend system and postcard system looks like a fun way to actually build an in-game association.
Very much looking forward to this.
I think Niantic did well here.
I like it! It’s a way so that they can’t sell Pokémon online. Prevents a lot of spoofers from doing their thing, although they can make sure they have decent Pokémon in each account now. I like thdon’t gifts and the friends thing. I still need the legendary dogs, so unless they come in the research breakthrough next month this is the only way to get them.
The current example of the CP/HP Rerolls (which we're interpreting to be IV Rerolls) shows the range of potential IV's for the Pikachu, and all of the potential IV's are either identical or less than what it currently has. Based on what it currently has (CP 427, HP 47), it isn't a Perfect Pokémon - it's high 70's to low 80's at best according to the IV Calculator on this site. So if the example is accurate, then it shows that the CP will decrease after being traded.
So it looks like you might not be able to re-roll a low IV Pokémon into a higher IV Pokémon. But we will have to wait and see; the examples used might simply be dummy/test Pokémon and actual gameplay may vary from it.
