Is there anything you might buy a second move for...IF the stardust cost were way cheaper?

I have a few boosted Giratina (2380 cp) plus 175 giratina candy. Similar situation with Ho-Oh, 110 candy...However, I would never spend 100k dust on either of those...to power up, nor buy a move. What 2nd move might you get if the stardust cost was 50% (or 33%)?

I agree it does seem a ludicrous dust price, most people I know arent really willing to pay it either.
Though with the announcement of the double catch dust event from the 18th to the 2nd, and all the star pieces in the Christmas box, I think we'll have dust to spare soon.

I'd consider buying charge moves for mewtwo (shadow ball ones), Kyogre and Groudon (*If I had one!*) at full price gladly. Giratina I would if the dust cost wasnt that high, the other 3 find usage for the second move outside PvP, while Giratina's use is exclusively PvP or pokedraft if you do those.

Right now, I'm only buying second moves for starters and Gyarados, since the dust cost is only 10k. Once the dust settles on the game changes (pun intended) and I have a better idea of what I'm doing (as we all will), then I'll consider investing some dust into other stuff.

The idea of a ShadowBall/FocusBlast Mewtwo for PvP is very appealing, and putting FB on my level 40 SB Mewtwo is a no brainer if it weren't for the fact that it would take 100 Mewtwo candy. I don't have that kind of Mewtwo candy or rare candy lying around, and I'm not a dedicated enough player to do ~16 tier 5 raids just to get ~100 RC.

Also pondering what to do with the babies, and if the lowered cost is worth the effort of powering them up, and if the second move is worthwhile. Elekid would just get a second helping of more of the same, but less efficient, and Magby could gain either a very bad move (Brick Break) with different typing, or a bad move (Fire Punch) with lower energy but the same typing. Neither seems worthwhile, and those two seem better in Gyms and Raids than PvP.

But for the starters, especially if they have a CD move already, the counter coverage is great, so one gets a top pokemon for bottom dollar. No brainer.

I expect that both the costs and the rules will change going forward. The starters, being so good for so little, should be bought ASAP before the option goes away. The rest can wait to see how it shakes out.

To answer the OP's question, for second moves at a lower cost, Groudon, Dragonite, Mewtwo (esp. if Psystrike is on the table), Tyranitar (B/C/SE and SD/SE/C would both be useful combinations, and either good move with Fire Blast would be good in PvP.) Mew would also be an option, simply because one's PvP opponent would have no idea what was coming. There's plenty of others, too. Looking forward to the following:

Swampert with Hydro Cannon and Earthquake (deadly).
Blaziken with Focus Blast and Overheat or Blaze Burn (bit glassy, though)
Infernape with Blast Burn and either Solar Beam or Close Combat.
Empoleon with Hydro Cannon and Blizzard or Flash Cannon (much better in PvP than in Gyms/Raids), probably Metagross's biggest problem in Gyms and PvP.

My guess is that starter price goes up at the next rebalance, and everything else comes down. Stock up on starters while you can, even to the point of if you have a base form that will evolve to just under 1500 or 2500 CP, buy the second move now so it's locked in and price protected, as well as your 91%+ ones, of course.

Price is fair and only those who want to be the best that ever was will pay. The rest will find some message board to complain to. That is an ok solution for all.

I have a very tough time finding 3 PvP battles in a day, have 80 friends, about 50 of them ultra or best. Costs a lot of dust/candy since I don’t use PvP much...would use it more if I were challenged more

CD starters all make a good deal.

I dont have any Stardust but I think 50-100k is ok, otherwise there would be no reason to play the game (outside pvp) anymore

Well, some reason, I just added a move to BB Charizard...new move Fire Blast---changed to Overheat---back to Fire Blast. Stopping bc like I said,I don't PvP very much

Same for that: Raids are useless if nobody needs the TM's or candies.

It's somehow fair to give the freaks and semi-freaks an edge over casuals.

Probably many mid tier ultra league. Haven't done a survey yet but would love giving ice Punch to my Poliwrath to surprise those pesky venousaur. 50k is more than I'm willing to spend on it at the moment.
That said, I think the price for legendaries is fair and starters and Gyarados are a bargain.

I've already put a second charge move on my maxed SB Mewtwo, so whatever.

I don't even mind the dust cost since that's way easier to build back up comparatively. It's the 100 legendary candy that doesn't sit with me at all. If it were less I'd likely put a 2nd move on my Giratina without a second thought.

I'm being VERY selective. But I look at it this way: If you're one to max pokemon (as I am), adding a second move is far cheaper. So far, I have added:

- FB and IB to two of my maxed SB Mewtwo
- Solar Beam to my maxed EQ Groudon
- EQ to my maxed MM Metagross

Yeah, that 375K dust hurt. But it hurt far less that maxing out the two Mewtwo I had waiting with IB and FB from level 20.

My wish list for other maxed mon: Overheat on my SA Moltres; something on my Kyogre (haven't decide yet if Thunder or Blizzard); maybe HydroPump on my Lugia.

I went ahead and unlocked hydropump on my maxed out Lugia who also knows dragon tail and sky attack. It does not disappoint in the master league and has been my saving grace on more than a few occasions.

I already spent nearly a million dust on second moves though I will really regret it if Niantic lowers the dust costs.

I've only unlocked 5 pokemon so far:

10000 dust: Torterra (Earthquake), Blastoise (Ice Beam), Sceptile (Earthquake), Staraptor (Close Combat)
75000 dust: Metagross (Earthquake)

These are the only things i can do at this point. They need to lower the prices.
