Suspicious number of "100%" pokemon?

I read the questions and contributions here regularly and I find them really useful and interesting. It's a nice community of helpful people. Thank you!

Just one little query: how come so many people claim to have so many "100%" pokemon? I've caught about 15,000 total and I can honestly say that have never ever caught a 100% anything (and yes, I always check). The best I have is a 95% Zapdos. I don't believe I'm spectacularly unlucky and I often ask others at raids if they have any 100%s. No one ever seems to.

I'm sure 100%s exist, but I do wonder sometimes if some individuals here are just a little fast and loose with the truth? Anyone else inclined to this view? :)

Players used to use trackers that allowed them to find exactly where 100% IV pokemon had spawned and how much time until they despawned.

Aside from that, I'd say most 100% IV pokemon are hatched from eggs.

Yeah most people's perfects come from
1. Hatches - odds are only 1/210 which isn't that unlikely especially if you run multiple incubators daily

2. Research Tasks - odds are only 1/210 and people can easily get more pokemon rewards now than hatches actually (this might be #1)

3. Scanner maps that tell you exactly where a perfect pokemon is, its moves, its gender, the exact second it despawns, and a google maps link so you can quickly launch it on your GPS app. And for spoofers the latitude/longitude coordinates so they can teleport there, grab it, cool down and catch it.

4. Discord/Social Media Shout outs - players in a close-knit community often will share 100% finds. People who try to defend #3 as "not cheating" usually say that if social media/discord shout outs are OK then #3 is the same thing. Lol, no.

5. Raid Bosses - odds are 1/210 but most players don't raid as much as hatch or earn rewards.

6. Weather Boosted wild spawns - odds are 1/1700ish but weather boosted mons aren't that uncommon. If you catch every weather boosted spawn around you, you could probably find a perfect one each month.

7. Regular Spawns - 1/4096 this is the most unlikely way to obtain a perfect pokemon. Non-weather boosted in the wild, and no scanner map told you where it was. These are the luckiest encounters.

Nah dude, scanners unfortunately. One guy in our community has almost al Generation 1 and 2 100%. It's incredible, not in a good way for me.

I've only caught a couple 100% when I was in Germany in a car with people who used scanners. I have to admit I've always had a mixed feeling with those Pokemons, like I cheated them. The once hatched or caught in wild gave me way better memories.

Do you really think people would go and do that? Post lies on the internet?

But honestly, it could be a multitude of things. Before scanners went down I'm sure some people drove around and hunted them or spoofed to them. Some people may just be lying for internet points. And of course some people may just be that lucky, like this guy in my raid group who came upon 6+ shiny Ho-Oh, including 2 back to back.

At level 37.5 I have 4 perfects: Pidgeot, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, and Beldum. I've also seen a perfect Rayquaza run from me. The Pidgeot was caught as a Pidgey as was the Beldum. The hitmons were hatched as Tyrogues, nearly back to back interestingly enough.

At the end of the day it's all RNG.

Same here, oddly all of mine were dark types (craudaunt hatches as corphish, shiftry hatches as a seedot, and murkrow wild caught in fog)

I got 1 perfect machop from a hatch (need the dust to power up) and a wild caught Roselia during cloudy weather (I nearly cried out with joy at that)

they are out there, just very rare, even from eggs. and raids

ur a cheeky m8 aren't u

I should specify I /caught/ the Pidgeot as a Pidgey and the Beldum as a Beldum :) He's getting saved for the inevitable Beldum community, I don't care how long it takes for it to come.

I found my first 100% on the 2nd day of playing. It's a female Murkrow, going to be a good Honchkrow.

Out of my 12 100%s:
7 are wild caught (Murkrow, Xatu M & F, Ariados, Rhydon F, Machamp, and Hariyama).
3 are from eggs (Magmar, Sceptile, and Camerupt F).
2 are from raids (Exeggutor, Piloswine F).

Good responses guys. The scanners issue was the one that I had in mind too. Never used them obviously; else I guess I'd have better than I do!

As for the 100%s mentioned here, it would seem more realistic to have quite a lot of dross as 100%s as you've mentioned, as opposed to just the usual chatter about having several 100% legendaries.

I'd quite like one myself. Maybe a Dunsparce. I could get it framed.

Some people I know relied on others who used scanners, but for my case that's pretty much pointless since I cannot get to a 100% that's not near me on time, I don't have a car. Every wild 100% I have was just something I stumbled upon. Someone told me of a 100% Grimer once, but it was night and 15 minutes away from my home, didn't go, even though I would have liked a 100% Muk. Then someone put a Muk in the gym nearby few minutes later, most likely that 100%.

Just luck. I have nearly 31,000 catches and have 23 no. 100% Pokemon.

Never spoofed, nor used trackers to locate them. A couple from raids, 5 or 6 lucky wild catches, and the remainder were egg hatches. A couple of the wild catches were referrals on local social media, but I physically went there.

Mixture of some awesome ones (e.g. Tyranitar) all the way down to the useless (e.g. Rattata).

I've never used a tracker, been playing since a few weeks since the game started, and I have three 100% pokemon. Hatched a Lapras with perfect IVs, at the end of the Fighting event, I caught a perfect boosted Makuhita (level 25, but it was cloudy), and last week I did a Piloswine raid and got a perfect (bring on Mamoswine).

They come up 1 in 216 for hatches and raids, so you should get one perfect for every couple of hundred eggs and raids and now research rewards. They come up 1 in 4096 for regular pokemon, and 1 in 1728 for weather buffed pokemon.

I've caught a little over 20,000 pokemon, so on average I've caught 5 perfects. Some were probably pidgeys or weedles that I tossed. But it does happen.

Oh and I did get a perfect Latios, but I couldn't catch it.

I have caught 28000 and have 16 perfects - about half of which are total junk but considering my pair of perfect dragonites I am not complaining. I have never used a scanner. All of the below are listed as how I obtained them but in all cases where they can evolve I have done so.

Wild Catch - Charmander (on community day), Rattata, Seel, Gastly, Voltorb, Dratini, Hoothoot, Aipom, Taillow, Swablu and a Spheal.

From egg hatches I got my second Dratini, a Wobbuffet, and a Trapinch.

From tasks I got an Exeggcute

From raids I got a Ho-oh.

Doing raids certainly helps as they are all higher IVs so you have a better chance. I have caught 32k pokemon and only one 100% (Croconaw.) I have gotten one from a raid (Muk,) and all other 8 have been hatched, for a total of 10. So I guess without using a scanner, hatching pokemon is the best way.

Edit: Sidenote...I don't check every catch. Its possible I have transferred lower level common pokemon without knowing.

I'm just shy of 34.000 caught Pokemon and have 31 that is 100%.

Three are from raids (Entei, Suicune and Latias).
Some are from eggs, some from task rewards. But I also have quite a few caught in the wild.

I play with no cheats and I have two 100% pokemon, one from an egg, and one from a research task. my partner also has two, one of which was from a legendary raid.

Level 40, 62143 catches, 2102 hatches, and 34 100% pokemon. I've never used scanners and mine are half caught and half hatched. I even have a few duplicates like 2 charmander/charizard, 2 ho-oh, and 2 scizor (1 caught and one hatched). I would have A LOT more perfect ones if I used scanners when they were a thing. My rarest are a double legacy Lapras and a legacy stone edge Blaziken.
I can provide screenshots if required.

Easy answer: don't be impressed unless it is a shiny 100%

L40, 40k catches, 16 perfects (2 in the last 2 weeks). Only 2 show as hatches, 1 research encounter, 13 wild catches (2 of which were reported by others), and one raid boss (my first arcanine solo!).

I've got 9 perfects with Scyther being the only 100% from a Raid
Teddiursa, Bellsprout and Hitmonchan from eggs
Pidgey, Barboach, Onix, Treecko, and Natu caught wild, no spoofing

I have about 5 or 6 and at least as many 97%. I'm level 36 and didn't get into all that scanner biz.

40 player. Got 62 out of nearly 60K caught and nearly 10K hatches. 21 shinies so far.

44 from eggs, 3 from lengendary raid, 1 from T3 and 14 caught from wild. Don’t use “suspicious” wording, many trainers have tried their best to get those 100%. I said say almost 100% from luck.

You made me do a 30 minute scan of Pokedex. I have 35 100% pokemon. I think 22 are from hatches and 11 are from catches, and 2 from raids. I have zero 100 Legendaries. Some are useful in varying degrees - Tyranitar, Dragonite, Bagon (I'm saving), Golem, Gengar, Espeon, Flareon, Swampert, Sceptile,Torchic (I'm saving), Jynx. Some will be useful Porygon & Porygon 2, Roselia. Others are not - Magcargo, Delcatty, Raichu, Octillary, Noctowl,Jumpluff, Quagsire, Lanturn.Seviper,Exploud, Mantine, Shiftry x2. Others maybe/sort of - Donphan, Feraligator, Absol x2, Kingdra, Poliwrath, Hitmonchan, Wailmer.

I have exactly 6 that fit in a party :)

3 from eggs: Dratini, Chansey and Slugma
2 wild catches: Seedot and Magikarp
1 from research rewards: Aerodactyl

No scanners, no spoofing, and Gyarados is from 2016. It took me until 2018 to get all the others, so really RNG for me.

Edit: L38 player, 23k catches, 600 hatches. Only looking for IVs if I notice higher than usual CP or useful ones, so I might have thrown away other trash too, admittedly.

I have a lot of 100% I won't lie to you and say I never used a scanner however I stand by the fact that I never had one that knew IVs.

If you buy a lot of incubators you have a lot of 100s. I have caught a number but the majority were eggs.

Up

Down

I have a number of 100% pokemon, and I haven't used scanners. Most were hatched, or raid trophies. Two were wild catches. I think for eggs and raid trophies the chances are about 1:200. For wild catches, 1:4000? Given those odds, I think the number of 100s I have are in line with the expected value.

Firstly, 15,000 means you'd be classed as very casual, or new (neither of which is wrong, but does change what you have found), by most players. I've caught just over 70,000 and I'm far from one of the most hardcore players in the big amounts of players that I know.

I never go and do mass legendary "raid trains", 6 or 7 in a day has been my max, but from those I know players with multiple 100% of legendaries. I have 100% Raikou from about 35 Raikou raids and I got 100% Moltres from research.

I have loads of other 100% (including 100% shiny Dratini caught during community day), but I did use maps (from scanners), I know players here in Central London who were proud to never use maps, but they did chase down 100% from word of mouth, which s initially provided by a map and they definitely went to raids based on maps, so the area of morality is grey at best. Its a game, I find it weird that people are prepared to take the moral high ground over maps in a mobile game, but then actually had no feelings about things like environmental issues. One has real life consequences, the other a silly game we play on our phone.

Im at 15910 pokemon caught, 7 100% ivs found. I usually transfer unviable mons without checking them. Its all luck based i would say. Have yet to catch (even find) a 100% legendary, with machamp the only raid perfect iv i caught so far. At least 3 of them were wild catches. Also i ve got some 100% that i caught with people that used scanners. Ive met many people that have close to full collections of 100%. All that said, you are substantially more unlycky than me, and i thought i was pretty unlucky for not having found a single perfect legendary yet.

How much lucky is sometimes depending on how many times you’ve tried from grinding, hatching and raiding. The more you do, the more luck it can be. Trainer experience could also help to increase your luck like throwing technique for catching. Sometimes, the Pokémon might ran away even though you have excellent throws.

Not everyone is stretching the truth. If the number is absurd they obviously used a tracker. I have a good amount of perfects. 19 of them. 12 from catches, 3 from raids, and 4 from hatches. That number may seem high to you, but you have to look at the numbers too. I've caught 45,000 Pokemon, hatched 1,555 eggs, and done 1,062 raids. I could have 2 more also, but failed to catch a 100% Raikou and Suicune. I have a buddy that probably has 2x the number as I do. He used to (not sure if he still does) have insane GPS drift at his work, and has hatched way more eggs than anyone in our community has, and 98% of his 100%'s came from all those eggs.
