[Suggestion] Safest Bets Revision?

Given the announcement of changes to CP and different emphasis on defense and stamina should there be a disclaimer in the Safest Bets article expressing these claims were made with the current meta in mind? With there not being any major indication on what way the scales will tip some of the info in this article could end up being plain wrong.

Agreed. I've got a friend who does things like world record times and he mentioned that from the sound of things, it might make glass cannons better but we'll have to wait and see. We don't know if they will be changing moves either.
Most of us were expecting some meta shift, but probably not something this drastic.

There's also the new moves they are adding, a few water moves, 3 fighting ones and earth power, sadly no fairy wind yet...poor togekiss...

It's clear - convert all your rare candy into Shuckle candy before it's too late.

Okay, don't do that.

My only take on all of this is that it will be a minor shift for most pokemon. Look at the last rebalancing. Lapras got weaker, Golem got stronger. I was heavily invested in both at the time.

Best policy now is to stop powering anything up, and hoard resources. When we know how it will play out, we can make intelligent decisions. But Dragonite and Kyogre will still be strong, Shadow Ball Mewtwo will still be what it is (although possibly threatened by Giratina for best Ghost attack, depending on moveset), and Machamp will still be meta relevant because of all the Normal, Ice, Dark, and Rock pokemon that are weak to it's attacks. Maybe Hariyama will be more competitive with Machamp, maybe not. But the overall game will go on.

All hail the might shuck, haha.

I agree completely. There's some things that will stay good. If the co rebalance affects haryama or makes breloom better, well still see machamp a lot because we already have them at high levels. Some will get better others might get worse. But legendaies will pikely be untouchable, so glad I got that 93% rayquaza from a trade

not sure if Hariyama will get better, sledge new CP below

Hariyama 2507 decrease
Breloom 2662 increase
Machamp 2889 same
Heracross 3021 increase

It literally says at the top that this is speculative and not to be taken as fact. Direct quote below:

NOTE: this is speculation on how things might turn out, please don't take it as a fact. I also have a followup post that makes an educated guess on how both HP and Defense might change.

I know, but you asked where these numbers were from. Furthermore, PokeAK pretends that these new cp values are the ones that we are gonna see when gen 4 rolls out. This is not true and he did this to aquire more views

EDIT: Silph Road made an article about the new CP values when Niantic follows their new cp formula. “When” is key here

That's fair, I did ask where they came from and not if they were valid. Still, I'm not taking anything as fact until we see the proposed changes implemented.

I assume we'll see them just before or right as Gen 4 drops, not a moment later. Why release new Pokemon only to have their stats reworked a day later?

PokeAK spreading rumors and speculation as fact, news at 11. I have no idea why anyone follows them, would think that after the numerous times they've tried to sell falsehoods as fact the followers would've realized the guy is full of dung.

Perhaps the bigger question is: what will be safe even after the changes? Mewtwo? (Just earned a perfect one this morning.)

I don't think any mewtwo sets safe aside from shadow ball or the limited use psychic, it's other sets have a lot of stiff competition. Same boat 96% one yesterday

Dragonite, Tyranitar and Salamence are pretty much guaranteed to be safe, their main series stats are just so good. Metagross likewise if CD gives it a good moveset. The HP revamp sounds like glass cannons with low hp that are already good will become better, so I'd put those into "moderately safe".

But of course, nothing is safe enough to invest in at the moment.
